    e30 m3 appraisal

I came across an e30 m3 that was parked in front of this persons house. I talked to him for a bit and he told me a few things about the car. It has a clean title, 250k+ miles, and m20 swap (yes you heard me right an m20 swap in an e30 m3!). The car has a rust spot right where the wiper blade is under the windshield. I'm not sure of any other rust under the car. Also, there were rats living inside the engine bay and who knows where else. It's a pretty rough car I will say. Overall I just wanted to get an estimate of what you guys think this car is worth. It's a legit e30 m3 but it does not have the s14 :/. Let me know what you guys would appraise this e30 m3 at. Thanks

Update: I picked up the m3 for 5k!

Pictures are not showing much detail, if it is in all original aside from the engine and it has vin tags and no accident is worth $18-20K

Really rough looking M3. M20B27 ETA engine installed. I'd price it as a complete roller which is about $20k in today's market whether we like it or not.

Good heavens, and it won't go for a penny less than 15k.

I wonder what happened to the original motor. shes pretty rough, but looks somewhat complete.

If you could get it cheap enough, remove the m3 badge and tell everyone its an uber rare widebody 325e!

I believe these cars have a problem spot with rust around the windshield, but I'm not certain on that. Since you mention rust around the wiper, make sure it's nothing bad.

The problem becomes after a windshield replacement, it has drain holes they normally get plugged if the installer isn't careful, the water has no way to scape creating a weak spot.

                  Nice, it's got the M20 B27 upgrade! ;D
Probably the SLOWEST e30 M3 on the planet

As for value, I'd say fourteenkay and not a penny less!

                    You're buying a shell.

Needs repaint, complete drivetrain.. Price as such.

                      Ouch

As tempting as it maybe, no more than $20k

Swapped S52 with nice paint can be had for $30k.

But I would try to secure it in the vicinity of $15k, if you really want the car. Considering the rust and unknowns, this will start to add up quickly.

at the same time, you might have found one that the seller doesnt know what its worth. I imagine that if you showed up with $10k and a trailer, they might be extremely happy

This car was likely picked up for less than 5k with a blown s14 back in 2000--2005 so keep that in mind. I'd show back up with like 10k in pocket and offer 8 to see if you can get it without the owner going online and jacking up his expectations. Otherwise you're looking at a lot of hassle and money to get it back up and running.

Be prepared to be dealing with some serious firewall rust based on the rust below the windshield, it doesnt look good. You might get lucky, but youll want to be prepared for the worst there.

Is that a glass moonroof? Cant tell if it is, or its just a sunroof with good paint surrounded by crappy paint.

Definitely look underneath for more rust. If its been sitting outside for an extended period of time, theres probably more rust underneath.
