      on a serious note i would say that your downpipe got pulled off

          yes, this happened on my e30 while in the PO posession, i thought it just had a bad exhaust leak, turned out the right downpipe had broken offa the exhaust manifold....

                    Damn M10's, everything is always cheaper.

                    Judging by the pics I'd say you need to run to your local BMW dealer ASAP and see if they have any muffler bearings in stock. You might be lucky and have them available but like others have said, they can be hard to find. Bring your checkbook.

                        downpipe got pulled off?? thats what it looks like.
                        when you replace the down pipe you also have to change the muffler bearings, they become sloppy when you pull the downpipe off.

                          You have to get under your car mang. The muffler bearings will be easy to see once you are under there.

                          But srsly, get under the car and look at the pipes. In one second you will see your problem.

                                wtf are muffler bearings? where are they? ive replaced my entire exhaust and i can recall no "exhaust bearings"
