i didnt get to see the begining of it but how did ferrari fall from row 2 to 18th and 21st?? was it because they slid off a few times ? there were so many accidents left and right...even the two time world champion aka sneak alonso crashed hard in a wall. too bad about bmw....heifeld crashing that is...did you see how they were battling each other for positions? or how about that last lap with kovi and kimi. i loved how the podium finished up with hami winning ! sweet ! and then two fins. kovi did a good job for renault and it was his first podium finish and loved the fact that he held off his fellow fin in the ferrari during one probably the hardest race of his life. hami said it was his. and hes now 7 points ahead of alonso with only 2 races left.

Actually, it was due to the fact that they started the Ferraris on intermediate wets when the race director (Charlie Whiting) informed all teams that every car was to start the race on full wets....the result was two very unstable red cars in the opening laps. What is interesting is that C. Whiting has a computer at his station which is networked to all the teams to relay info as warranted (he also can monitor team radio communication too). So his order was sent out (via e-mail) to all teams prior to the start of the race advising them of the full wet tire requirement. Ferraris' excuse? They said they didn't get the message. Yeah....sure you didn't Mr. Todt

Yes, that was a good battle. But how about this one on the last lap between Kubica and Massa. Now this was a fight for position! (be sure to save it before the F1 Intellectual Property police come and yank it off YouTube)

Agreed. A job well done and almost a certain that his seat at Renault will be secure for next year. I think Fisichella's F1 career is coming to a close after Brazil in three weeks' time.

Correction - Hamilton was 2 points ahead of Alonso prior to this weekends' race. Hamilton got 10 points for taking first while Alonso got squat since he crashed out. Hamilton is now a full 12 points ahead of his teammate with just two races remaining. Unless Lewis has an engine go kablamo or crashes out in China or Brazil (and Alonso wins both or gets one win and second while Lewis fails to finish in the points for both) then I'd say todays' race just about clinched the title for Hamilton. I'm not saying its a given, but it's looking pretty damn close.

Ferrari did, in fact, not get an email and the FIA has said they they will be more direct in the future when it comes to telling teams critical information. In the past the teams were approached with a written document in the hand of an FIA official that would be signed from the team boss. The cars were NOT allowed to start on inters and were going to be black flagged if they did not change the tires. But no one ran inters the entire race so it was a bad move to begin with.

Hamilton did not do well when behind other cars. His lap times were fast and consistent until he was forced to pit and was then 2 seconds slower than his times in the first stint. He said in the post race interviews that it was as a result of Kubica running into him, that it caused a vibration that lasted the remainder of the race. However his times were back up once he was at the front and had a relatively clear view of the track. Incidentally, Kubica being given a drive through for running into Hamilton was bunk, Kimi pulled off plenty of passes in the same corner, however the driver being passed gave him room where as Hamilton cut down on Kubica causing the accident.

Massa pit from 3rd just like Rubins pit from 8th. Both were in the point and ahead of their team mates. Get over it, Massa was not brought in to let Kimi pass, it would of been much better for Massa to 'run wide' and let Kimi pass, which would of also kept Massa in 4th. If the FIA wanted to they would of penalized Ferrari.

Needless to say. Hamilton, not impressed he was not met with adversity as he was out front the majority of the time. Kovalainen did well as the Renaults were obviously on a dry set up [stiffly sprung, low downforce] and Kimi coming from 21st to finish 3rd [almost 2nd] was the driver of the day.

OMG, I just watched it (stayed out of this thread to not hear about the result).... I was on the edge of the seat for Kimi to get 2nd! Still, what a result to go from the back of the field to take 3rd... if they didn't drop from the front to the back he might have taken 1st or 2nd.... damn it.

There is still a chance ... go KIMI!

F1 thread bumpage - Chinese GP this weekend. Missed practice last night but quali is on later this evening (early Sat. morning for you east coast folk). I recently checked on the weather for Shanghai, apparently there's a typhoon brewing off the coast of China right now.....not sure which direction it may be heading but if it goes in a northwest direction from its present position, its going straight into Shanghai. This could throw a monkey wrench into everyones' program. At the very least there's likely to be similar conditions to last weekends' race at Fuji.

Wonder if an F1 race has ever been scrapped due to excessive winds :?:

F'n great race! Now we have three drivers in contention for the title going into the final round in Brazil. You couldn't ask for a more fitting way to conclude this rollercoaster season. These next two weeks will be crawling by for me :-(

Alonso and Hamilton need to take each other out and Kimi needs at least second. At least that is what I am hoping for.

Now all those points lost by Kimi's falures have come back to haunt him.

No points in Spain, 8th in Monaco, no points in Nurinburg

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

                                rumors.

Alonso has said that he has no intent to leave mclaren. Hamilton and Dennis both said they will not work with him again. Its an expensive soap opera
