Thats for the Scott Speeds and Juan Pablo Montoya's of the world. Heidfeld doesn't have the personality for Nascar.

A bit off topic from this seasons' events, but this bit of news caught my eye. Sounds like F1 history could repeat itself. Kind of hope it does materialize, BMW had great success with it.

If Ferrari doesn't support it, I doubt it will happen.

Interesting. It seems a bit far fetched considering that the current motors make ample power and are easily some of the most environment-friendly F1 motors to date. But with the FIA's pursuit for efficiency, turbocharging could be a possibility in the not too distant future.

True - they have the FIA on their side. FIA = Ferrari Internal Affairs.

That would be way cool. But they were making 1500 hp with 1.5L 20 years ago. But I don't remember what the boost limit was.

                    I want this to happen.

At that level, the BMW motor was in qualifying trim to get a good lap time for the best placement on the grid - the engine was good for just a few laps at best because of the stress levels being placed on it. For the race it was dailed back to ~1,200bhp for the sake of reliability so it could survive the length of the race. I doubt we would see a similar format used in modern day Formula 1 if they went back to turbo motors since getting costs under control is a big priority. It would be cool to see these small boosted engines make a return though. We've seen engine capacities in F1 incrementally reduced in the last couple dacades.....remember the V12s of the late 80s & early 90s? Those were followed by the 3.0L V10s (best sounding F1 motors IMHO), and now the 2.4L V8s. Who knows what lays ahead after the current engine specification freeze ends and alternatives are discussed.

Phil Hill passed today. R.I.P. It is hard to imagine a American F1 champ driving for Ferrari. He was class.

Man, that's awful. I didn't know that much about him, but it sounded like he was quite the driver (winning a WC at one point IIRC,) as well as a gentleman.

I think he's going to get Bourdais' seat. The Frenchman's transition from multi-title CHAMP Car winner to F1 has not gone over well.
