I swear, why the fuck does Varsha feel the need to make some reference to Nascar in every single practice, qualifying and race broadcast?

Although his comment about "how much damage Ralf Schumacher's era at Toyota really did to the team" was hilarious.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

        ^Agreed on both counts.

I can't imagine that many people that watch one, watch the other.

They want people that watch NASCAR to become fans of F1, thats why.

And as for DC becoming a rolling road block: Saturday morning practice 3rd, qaui 10th.

Hes not too bad as far as older drivers, and the car is not the best. But its plain to see that he does not have the stamina of the other drivers.

^He's also doing it on half the fuel. Windsor made a comment in yesterday's practice that he doesn't understand why DC is doing all these low fuel flying runs in practice.

It's not like being fast on Friday is going to keep him his job.

Because hes trying to keep his joerb. The guy has to do something to impress RBR or else he will be nixed pretty soon. I bet we will still see him next season, maybe even two more. But he has to know his retirement, forced or not, its around the corner.

I know he's trying to keep his job.

But being fast on Friday, and crashing on Sunday isn't going to do it.

I bet Vettel has his seat next year.

The way this season is going, It might be the other Sebastian that gets DC's seat first.

                    ^This is very true!

Vettel seems to have even worse luck than the Webber.

On the topic of the older F1 drivers, I think Rubens Barachello is a better driver than DC, and Rubens doesn't have that great of a car to work with either. The difference that I've noticed between these two drivers is that Rubens will make it tough to get past him if you have a faster car - but when he does relinquish his spot for the faster guy he does it in the "gentleman's racer" fashion......not like DC who will spear his car into your path at the last second under braking like he did and nearly beheaded Alex Werz or the cross-check to Phil Massa (ironically both happened at Australia).

One last note on older drivers: my hats' off to Rubens for being the most experienced driver on the grid - 257 races after this weekend. He comes from the old guard of F1, was friends with and raced against Senna. Rubens is one of the good ones and he will be missed when he bows out of F1. Hopefully he can still be part of the scene if he decides to....such as a commentator. A well spoken lad he is ;-)

Another observation from todays' qualifying. It was mentioned that Phil Massa is under some pressure to do better or he could be at risk of loosing his ride with Ferrari. There was an article on the itv-f1 site about how Phil can be quick but he lacks consistentcy. Also, tighter less-forgiving tracks don't seem to suit his driving style. The weekends' race in Turkey is his kind of track.....I won't be surprised to see him take the win either given his success at this circuit. Where he faces greater challenges are the races at Monaco and the new street-based circuits in Valencia and Singapore. He needs more than just podium finishes to secure his ride for next year.....he needs wins. Those folks at Ferrari are a tough crowd.

Very good race. Ham was on a charge but a 3 stopper wont work with the pace of the boys in red.

Next race will be fun to watch with these new regulations.

Success at Monaco all boils down to pit strategy - passing is damn near impossible. Just a high speed parade of carbonfiber with lots of rich folk watching :-P

I'd like it to rain for Monaco. Little margin for error plus lack of traction control would make for an "interesting" race.

I think Fisichella should get on the phone and see if he can get a seat in one of the Touring Car Series. Or ARCA/ReMax.

                              That guy has lost it.

Ferrari would be stupid to get rid of Fil Massa.

^Even though that was a pretty boneheaded move into Turn 1, I think there are other drivers who are less qualified to keep their seats than him.
