He gave the poition back, but not fully.

I do agree that he should of not, for his own sake, tried to pass Kimi at the next turn. Had he let it go and got him up the hill or under braking for les combes there would of been no issue.

Because of that, it could be argued that he gained an advantage by running wide. I dont entirely agree.

BUT i will say, that his bitching in the drivers interviews about Kimi pushing him off course and that its a cheap move blah, blah, blah. That was Hamiltons way of passing people in Germany, so he can shut the fuck up about Kimi squeezing him off track.

Baseball has unwritten rules. F1's dont try to pass DC and dont pass red cars. What's done is done. So he as to get over it and be ready to take on red cars at their home track. It wont be easy. Red team should back massa and that will make it harder to win this year.

I can't stand Lewis. Yet this seems unduly harsh. A grid penalty at the next race would have sufficed.

First, in regards to Kimi....what is the Finnish for choke? :nice: Once again, rain proves to be the ultimate equalizer in F1. I think its safe to say who is Ferrari's #1.

Now, on to the penalty call involving Lewis and Kimi in the closing laps. When I saw Lewis cut the corner at the final chicane to avoid Kimi (and temporarily taking 1st) then cede the lead spot back to Kimi, it appeared to me like it was a legit and clean move on Hamilton's part since I did not see any contact made - but I guess the FIA rules state otherwise......I guess its up to the race stewards to determine what is "fair and just" for the incident in question. The race was certainly more spontaneous than Valencia. Never have I seen more of Spa's bipolar weather than today. It was nice to see the BMW's in the points through Quali and Race, but you could tell Kubi was perturbed post-race. Both STR drivers drove a stellar race, I was particularly surprised with Bourdais' wet weather driveability. Both Finns had a shitty day today, despite Lewis' rather harsh penalty Räikkönen seems to show everyone that he may just have the worst luck of any current Formula One driver.

I just learned about Lewis' penalty. I heard Bob Varsha say something after the race about awaiting to hear what the steward's response would be, but I tossed it off as something that would be very doubtful after the completion of the race. I (like Dave) figured a grid-spot penalty at Monza would have been more than sufficent. I guess not though, expect to see McMerc appealing that ruling throughout the week. I assume that after this ruling, Hamilton gets P3?

Well, as Jon pointed out with the rule, the penalty leveled seems to have been the only real option.

1. Damn fine driving and move by Heidfeld to switch tires. He dropped off the radar and came back!

2. Kimi I think just doesn't care. Rumors of his retirement because he doesn't want to race forever and I think he is just done. He doesn't really care.

3. The rule of you can't pass after going off or however you word it is flawed. Hamilton and Kimi flew off line, out into the grass and then asphalt and then are right back on the gear box next corner? There are some places at some tracks you could drive straight through a corner and catch up to someone by 'accident'.

Whilst I think that Hamilton's penalty was a bit unnecessary, his move was very blatant. He was a few car lengths behind Räikkönen, went off course, and then (magically) he was right on the back of his gearbox. Hamilton fan or not, surely you noticed that.

Let's say you are 5 or 6 car lengths behind, you 'overshoot' a corner, drive the asphalt, come back on track in front and then slow down a little and get right back into it on the gearbox of the person in front of you.

How 'fair' does that sound?

Eh? We must be in agreement on that situation then. I thought you were defending LH. His move may have started out innocent (missed brake point, went off-course,) but we quickly capitalized on the moment by flying up on Räikkönen.

Vettel did a stellar race as did Bourdais until the rain hit. Though I find it funny once again how Peter Windsor finds a way to not talk about Vettel in a positive manner ever. Most exciting race so far(at least the last few laps) and maybe now some of yall will get off Heidfeld's case for a race or two. Naw I didn't think so hahaha.

I also know that you can only make one defending move and kimi made a few more than that. What's done is done and atleaset we only have another race in less than a week
