I friend of mine sells e30 parts on ebay and he was tired of shiping blocks and trannys . So he gave a 325 block and the tranny. The clutch look real new and the engine doent even look worn. like it has been rebuilt and its like someone did a real good job. Needless to say the car was totaled due to some suspension damage the car came from to us from Kansas. But my question is how can I get to 250 hp reliably. what are my option to get this to the wheels? And how about getting a light weight flywheel? Does and e30 come with a light flywheel?? I want to build this engine right . thanks

the only way you'll hit 250hp with an M20 is forced induction, or perhaps a wild race spec motor, but you'd have to spend many thousands of dollars (on an M20, not worth it). fortunately, forced induction does work quite well with the stock M20, and could easily be tuned professionally to 250+hp. otherwise, you'd be better off swapping in a stock E36 m3 motor that makes 240hp stock.Comment

He is talking about M20's... S50's already have 240 NA stock. Well if your motor is tired or poorly maintained then you could run into some reliability issues since a turbo system adds a greater amount of stress on many of the components. If you use the search feature, enter "turbo" or "turbo M20" or other similar phrases and you should be able to get a good amount of information about this upgrade. There are a few people on here who have done this with great results. All you have to do is some digging.

If you have some sense of a clue to what you are doing then piece a turbo kit togeather yourself with an aftermarket engine management system. It would save you money.

TCD makes one of the cheaper more reliable kits. You could save some money and build one from scratch, but it is very time consuming and full of headaches. You would end up spending tons to make a NA m20 that will probably fall short of 250 rwhp and most likely not streetable. Just and idea off the top of my head would be a 3.0L stroker, port and polished head, multithrottle intake (extrude honed if not already done), SS MAF, larger exhaust valves, larger injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, extreme cam (302), header and track pipe, fan delete, and AC delete.

the problem is, all that *might* give you 200rwhp, but you'd have a ton of torque..
