As sad as it is - I unfortunately have too much going on to spend the time to do "major" projects like this on the car right now. So I pay someone - and enjoy the ride.

Now I will say that I admire the work you have done on your car. It looks very nice and I know how much work it has to have been.

But do you always have to be such a jackass?
    Very well said.

Thats just fine and dandy.. but then you have no right to have pride in your machine, as its not your workmanship.

-Jordan, who thinks it is very funny that someone would pay $8k for engine transplant.
There's no shame in being able to afford a professional to do the job well, as opposed to a halfass job done in your own garage over 6 months.

From my point of view (old guy with no time) it's worth it to me to have someone do the swap and I drive away....
So 7 or 8 k for the swap and all the engine parts?? Wow that's not bad.

Power windows not rolling down? I bet its a small wire that attaches to the starter motor. I had the exact same problem when I did my engine swap and the little bugger of a wire was hiding from me.

not sure if its relevant for you though if you have the S52 engine wire harness.

Ely, whenever you're down @ the pull a part of Buford HIghway, give me a holler. I live 8 mins away 8)

A tail of the dragon meet should be nice. Most of us have gotten our cars sorted out now (..or am I speaking for myself only?) and with some proper planning, we should be able to pull it off in August I'd say...

Will do, I'll either be going to Henrico or Buford, probally buford as I went to Henrico the last two times. Like I said I'm heading out Thursday to california and will be back around the 8th of August so sometime that week I'll be heading down.

I'm sure we could get a group together to run the Dragon, Jamie has his car ready, you got yours running right, I got mine together but I'd like to swap to a smaller front sway before I do the dragon again. Gae30 will have his Powerfull engine(learn how to drive it before you run the dragon, or have very powerfull brakes).
I road in my Friends Turbo E39 525i, If it handled better it would of been fun but it would just get spooled up about time to go into the next corner. Luckily we just did a short juant 1/4 the way up. His tires were constantly squeling even though he wasn't going fast into the corners. Myself and the e36 I was following left him in dust one our first run then he sat out the second run while we chased a 911 turbo.

Sometimes the younger members don't realize what it's like to have a family, full-time job, and other responsibilites and also find the time to work on a car.

Personally I agree with you, I could spend every evening working in the garage or I could be in the house playing with my 1 year old son and watching him grow.

Priorities change, when I was younger all I did was build cars. When My son gets older he'll be in the garage with me. Until then work will get done here and there when I have a chance. Cars can be messed with anytime, I'm not missing this time with him!!

Just curious, do you know roughly what they are charging you for labor only? I am at a point in my life where I don't have the time or place to do the swap myself, but I am slowly building up an S50. I hear that a BMW shop here in St. Louis can do the swap, but I have to supply all of the parts.
