All this Honda talk made me remember an obvious candidate that I was forgetting.

Early year models (92-95) are starting to get into the low twenty, high teen range across the board. I could definetly do a car like that. It would make an easy track/DD car.

I am looking more seriously into getting a '95 540i Sport with the 6 speed for a DD. But then, what I really need is some kind of SUV. I wish X5s weren't so expensive still.

I agree that I could never go back to fwd

but to be honest, I love all cars. once I get my current cars done, I'll probably get a nice daily driver, then just save up for a 1st gen f bod or just wait to splurge on a 427 cobra replica (my favorite car in the world. I would love one of those. gt40 would be sweet too, but 427 replicas can be had for much less).

if I sold my bmw, it would only be when my Z is done. and I'm guessing once the motor and goodies are in the bimmer, I won't want to sell it

My winter beater is a 99 honda civic ex, electron blue, skunk2 coilovers, tokico shocks, i/h/e, and a couple other things. but it will be for sale after this winter, I figure it will just about cover the cost of my motor for the Z.

but currently my other project car is a 71 240z. it's actually my second z, the first one I eventually stripped to get sandblasted, but needed too much welding so I parted it out

I bought a perfect 71 chassis, sitting in primer. I'm gonna get the bay sprayed, get an rb26dett in there, with standalone, already have the rear disc upgrade, about to get a front upgrade, then have the whole car sprayed 350z blue.

so once I have that car together, I will be in heaven, automotively. If I find I'm not driving the bimmer, I may sell it for an audi a4 wagon. I'd get the 2.8 and supercharge it. Or a WRX wagon. I just want an awd wagon, with some power, so it can tow my bike.

Well, they might have rich parents or something. IIRC, Josh only saved around $2,000 for his last E30, and so far he has bought 2 crashed E30's in a row. That doesn't seem to add up to the price of an imported Skyline.
TJ, that last couple of posts you made have been totally uncalled for.

First off, An R32 Skyline costs about $18,000 USD, about the same as your average new car. MotoRex has financing. As does your average new car dealershiip.

Second, I think it's extremely RUDE to put someone's financial abilites up for question. Like Rob said, I undetstood this thread to be somewhat hypothetical. You don't know what I can afford and what I can't, so I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself. One day when YOU'RE married, paying off student loans, paying for a home, paying for everything that you take for granted right now, you'll understand what it's like to try and save $2500 for a car. I could take a loan of from my bank to buy another car. But I've got student loans to pay off, as well as current balances on credit cards and otherwise. I don't choose to add to my debt.

Third, I have not bought 2 "crashed" E30's in a row. Yes, the first one I bought after my own car had been crashed, I'll give you that. The second one, the current one that my wife now drives, was lightly rear ended, damaging the bumper/taillight area. Hardly what I would call "crashed". Shit, I would bet all the money I have currently saved for my next E30 that a good percentage of the E30's here have or have been rear ended. a A lot of people choose to "keep insurance out of it" and don't report it, especially all the yuppies who drove these cars when they were new. And what I paid for it makes no difference.

Honestly TJ, you and I have had our spats in the past. Like I said in a previous post, I don't know what's going on with you lately, but your posts are becoming less helpful by the day, and more like the past posts of someone you always always criticized for being an asshole. Maybe my parents are rich. Maybe I just don't choose to live off of them (not meaning you). Maybe you won't ever know, because maybe it's none of anyone's business. I'm really not trying to be as big of an ass as this post leads on, but things like this just really irk me.

While it may not be as practical I would like either a 73 911S or a 911 Carrera 2 964. I love the sound of a Porsche.

I've done most of the options on this thread already and I'm happiest with my E30M3.

                        BEGIN Picture whoring :)

Started off with a civic. Learned to autox, do basic maintence and engine swaps. Fun cheap car, but didn't have much soul.
                        [NO PIC]

Sold it and bought an old '76 'box' bronco. Immediatly tore it down and did a whole page worth of restomods (351w, lift, 36s, cage, etc..). Really fun, got attention, but horrible to drive daily with no top or doors :). So i bought a '99 Ford Explorer sport.... it was ghey.

I wanted to get back into doing track days/autox, so I built a 96 civic hatch and did every possible suspension upgrade. After spending all that money I realized AGAIN that it was souless. Souless but fun.

Got an supercharged E36 M3 which satisfied most of my needs. Reliable, really damn fast, and easy to work on. But it wasn't exactly eccentric like the bronco.

Kept that and got an E30 M3. Its slow but its special and just as fun as the E36 at the track.

                        So whats next?

Well either buy an E39 as a 'old person' car in the next few years and build up an old muscle car (turbo v8 :)).

Or stop wasting time and get what I really want... a built 993 non turbo carrera with a custom turbo setup :).
