Falling in love at 110MPH. (Updated with PICS! Pg. 4)
Yup, after doing track days on a sportbike, driving fast on the street isn't worth it. Not to mention it has lost its appeal when you experience what can happen.
I've never taken my E30 above 85-90.
Not to mention, cars are slow.
OK. I respect your opinion, I find nothing wrong with it. Youre welcome to not shit in my thread though! I know Im such a piece of shit for going above the posted limit and putting everyones life at risk. I accept it. Some day I would love to be like you and do everything by the book. Until then, could you keep your self-righteous comments to yourself, please? Lets keep this on a friendly level. You dont have to post if you dont approve of the activities. Cool? Im trying to be as cool as I can be. Lets just move on. Moving on........

I don't think it was meant to be unfriendly (at least not on my part). It was more an observation that driving "fast" on the street isn't nearly as fun as on a closed course where the risks are much lower and you are able to push that much further.
you never been above 100 mph whats wrong with you i use to break a 100 every day for a year how fast have you been then 65 shit when i got my 07 335i twin turbo after i broke in the motor i had to see how fast it was tops out at 155 now thats fast
Honestly, big difference between the above post, and the below...
I rarely feel inspred and exhilarated like this ever, but I had to tell you guys.
Today I felt like taking out my ///M3 and going to fill the tank. Sicne I am only filling it with 101 octane, I have to go to Pasadena to do so. You can say its a nice drive through some canyons if I choose to take the back roads, or freeways if I feel like taking the obvious route. On the way over there, I chose the freeway route and on the way back the path that went by the Rose Bowl and by Art Center College of Design which has some beautiful roads. Those of you who know where I live or have been on a death run with me would know. After this errand I felt like driving my ///M3 all day to run the rest of my chores. On my way back home from doing all this my path home included going on the 110 South (Pasadena Freeway) towards the 5. This part of the 110 was the first freeway in the country and Los Angeles so its very curvy and only has 3 lanes on either side. he cars of today can easily handle 75, but more than that and it gets interesting. The turns are very tight in comparison to your average freeway. Also the runoff space and the on/off-ramps are very very small. There are literally stop signs, then 10 feet of entrance as on-ramps. Needless to say that with the right car and not much traffic, its very VERY fun.
I went on the 110 South and got on the 5 North headed to the 2 North. Theres just enough traffic to be fun. Not too little to be boring, but not enough to be stifling. DUring this run I got inspired and got to some pretty quick speeds. It had been a long time since I had been above 100 in the ///M3 since my hood latch was acting wacky and opening the hood at any speed above 80MPH.
For some reason, fellas, I got home in a GREAT mood and once again fell in love with my ///M3. The sound of the ALpha N'd 2.5 Liter S14, and the pull above 4.5K RPM combined with just the right amount of traffic to be able to have fun and maneuver through absolutely was a therapeutic experience for me. One of those times when you just relax and have some time to yourself and your mind kinda concentrates on a task and relieves itself of stress. My ///M3 always does that but since I havent been driving it that often, it had been a while since it had done that. Its still got it!!! Its running beautifully, sounds great, and pulls like a champion without anything holding it back. It feels/felt great!! This car fits me like another hand, or another arm. I dont know how to explain it. Its a piece of me and when were "on", its unlike anything else. Im in another world with that car. I feel like such a fucking wierdo telling you guys this. Maybe some of you who have been in the car whilst I have been driving spiritedly can help me out here.
gotta love that feeling. i have been putts-ing around in my e30 since its my DD. cant remember the last time hit redline. but i know everytime i do it puts a big smile on my face, even more so when its schooling some rich punk driving an expensive newer car...

Oh I wasnt referring to you, brother. No worries. :D
Oh shit Mariano!, those are some nice shots of the 110 NB.
What's the fastest you've ever hit that turn, merging into the 5 north as well?
Thats a glorious, steeply banked turn. Im going to try and see if I can find a picture of it. Im not going to post the answer to your question. That would be seriously irrespnsible on my part. haha
Love the sweeping s-curve in picture 2. I can only imagine the sound of the alpha-Ned S14 going through those mini tunnels. BRILLIANT!
Oh yes. That part of the 110 is set in a pretty narrow valley and has tunnels and bridges and all that good stuff. Its all a tight fit around there so needless to say my M50'd 325, and the S14 sound godly.
A couple of people have suggested to me an Arroyo Seco Grand Prix of sorts. This would be held in a few months and possibly late at night. Would anyone here be interested?
