At least you made an attempt. Maybe you can put your HVAC under the DD where the ash tray use to be.

I would have put in a stereo blank and left the HVAC alone. Then remove the ash tray and make a slanted platform to put the DD on.

Well, there's defrost. But seeing the engineering potential of this candidate I would think it's been rewired to cue a retractable disco ball that's going to come out of the air vents. or something.

I foresee regret the first instance the OP follows a garbage truck full of 1 week old indian food and can't splice together fast enough the two wires that used to be the recirc button.
