Btw what valance/lip do you have on the front there?
I dont want a fast fast car. I planning on tracking it regularly. I would have so much more fun working on a cheaper car instead of a really good condition car thats worth more becuase of its condition

I can see where you are coming from, a well taken of car is good though bc you won't have more crap breaking. You said this one had lots of maintance done right? That will save you a lot of money, the one I'm buying has not maintence history so I'll probably be fixing stuff for awhile.. taking money from fun stuff. Plus with a slower car you can get better at actually driving auto x and then once you get good and use to it then get faster.

I say you could get you some springs and start auto-x'ing. There are guys locally that run around in close to stock e30's and miata's that auto-x, good driver can beat a bad driver in a fast car.

The eta isn't that bad in auto-x. Because the immense amount of torque, you can stay at lower rpms and still keep moving.

              True.

I think im gonna spend my time and money restoring the car to as near perfect as I can and hopefully sell it in the next year. I plan on getting a set of springs and maybe a new exuast. Do you think anyone would be interested in trading a stock exuast for a system with a magnaflow muffler. I love the sound but when it comes time to sell it might put off more modest buyers. Anythoughts on the hood? Buying another red hood would be costly and theres a good chance the color fading will be different as my paint is abnormally good.

So my clutch is slipping pretty bad, if i give it any real power between shifts it slips out. Do you think its worth living with for now or to to buy another one, i hear there really hard to replace. Thoughts

While you're in there, replace the dual mass flywheel for a single mass from a 325i.

Sounds like a good idea, how much do those ususally go for? Also. Im gonna be changing my valve cover gasket soon, do you think its worth it for a newb to try to do some valve adjustment or should i not risk fucksin anything up? Im have pretty good mechanical skills, but never been inside an actual engine.

A lot cooler than my first car. If I were you I would swap over an iS cylinder head and call it a day power wise. I wouldn't spend too much money "restoring it to perfect condition" but definitely take care of the maintenance stuff. Cut springs are fine man don't spend any more money trying to make this thing a show car, enjoy it for what it is - a torquey old german ride with a 5-spd: recipe for a fun car. Also yeah take care of the clutch if you and your buddies are mechanically inclined. If you are still in search of more power look into M30 or 24v swaps

Thanks for the advice man. I dont plan on doing anything big at all to it now. I want to get some more performance out of it but not by doing anything big, just tuning and working with what I got. And yeah the clutch is bad, like to the point where its not to much fun to drive as i cant put power to the wheels

Hey your trim around the windows and on the doors, did you paint it or did it come like that when you bought it? Mine has chrome there but urs with the black looks tons better.

Masked off the body and windows and sprayed it. I HATED the chrome, it looked like shit anyways. Also did my side bumper trim pieces too, prolly gonna do the bumpers too.
