I see. I found moonlites car. What about the suspension? Does it have to stay at that height in the front because of the front driveshafts or something?

link to moonlites car for anyone interested.

no.. the engine has nothing to do with the suspension.

        my bad I shoulda said.

Why doesn't anybody lower an IX? Do they have to keep them at OEM height because of the front driveshafts?

Looks like a great project though OP. Completely worth 200 dollars. Good luck with it and I look forward to your progress.

IIRC the only differnce between the ix motor and a standard M20B25 is the oil pan (and maybe th pick-up?). Get that new motor, swap pans and you are in business!

nope, the entire block casting is different, the oil pump, intermediate shaft, dipstick location, etc. etc. you can't even use an ix oil pump on a RWD block.

That's a pretty sweet pickup, especially with the Euro weaves!

Just put an ix M20 in it and call it a day. Don't try to get crazy and install an M50.

                    sweet deal.

Too late for that we had snow this week here in Mass already in the Berkshires. Scary that it's down in to the twenties in the evenings already.

Nice find but it's most definitely not an 87 as you know. Oh there were some iX's in various forms and shapes listed on Craigslist the past few weeks and Jizo has two iX's that he might be parting out here in the greater Springfield area.

so Mossman just hooked me up today with an m20, to part into the IX and also the majority of a 5spd swap, thats gonna have to wait till spring, tho. For now, i just have to get this thing running. Ill post pics of the progress tomorrow.
