                  Ignore paint chips. Was cleaning the inside of the cover with a wire brush, slipped off the towel I was using to protect it. Fuckers!

                          Thats what the previous owner of the engine had with it. I questioned it at first as well, but it was free and there weren't any normal ones around, so...

                            Those of you who have removed your ac, did you just release it into the air or what? I've thought about deleting mine to clean things up plus I never use it, but I don't want to just release it into the air really. What other options do I have?

                              Definitely DO NOT release it to atmosphere. Take your car to a shop that does AC service and repair, and have them de-pressurize and empty the system, I can't imaging they'd charge you much.

                                Pay a shop the one hour of labor max. they will charge to properly evacuate the system.
