    New Child

I have a new child: 1986 325. This car was originally a 325e with an automatic. The story that I heard is that a group of guys was going to take it Lemons racing. From what I can tell, they pulled the engine and transmission and installed the M30 and 5 speed. And that's as far as they got: no driveshaft, no ECU, no exhaust. (It's hard to know what happened to the interior.)

Yes, I know this looks like a hopeless cause, but it's not. Here's why:

1.) There's hardly any rust on the car. The only spot (so far) that I have found is a small hole under the gas pedal. The body doesn't have any rust on it.
2.) I didn't have to pay any cash for the car. I did some work on another friend's car and he gave me this one as payment!
3.) I didn't have to pay any shipment charges for it. I just had to wait 3 hours for the stupid tow truck to show up.

So, I need a bunch of parts for this car. Here is today's list:

1.) M20B25 engine and getrag 5 speed transmission (I don't want the M30 and I have a home for it.)
2.) Front and rear sport seats
    3.) Carpet
    4.) Complete exhaust system
    5.) Driveshaft

Anybody got any spare parts for sale?

Woohoo! Glad you got her home. The M30 is a b34, and with how little parts are there to support the M30 swap it's likely not worth the hassle to finish it off. If it were a b35 I think it'd be a different story.

agreed, and that one looks like a US spec B34 variant (8:1 compression, yay). would absolutely install a B25 and be done with it.

The m20b25 is everything. You will not be disappointed with that move.

Nothing is ever a lost cause. There are some cars that are really, really hurt but if you got the money anything can be done. I personally like saving the ones that everyone over looks. They need love too.
Hell mine was rough too, but something in me had to have it and to keep wrenching on her.

No, the M20B20 is pretty much junk, and the ETA is kind of meh, but way better than the B20 so, no M20s are not the best. The real answer is probably a proper S50, but my heart says M40.

My heart says M20b29. To each his own.
