I do those by hand. You can feel the washer collapse.

Hang the pump in the hanger and then use 2 17mm wrenches to get that banjo tight

I hate those copper washers, annoyingly the new pump had new washers, but they werent the right size, so my only option was to reuse and Im sure thats a big no-no...

I will keep the car up on stands today while I tighten and see how many times I have to re-tighten them, but yea I might need new washers

IMO, reusing crush washers is fine, if you sand them flat.

I really would encourage you to get some cheap hook/loop no hole sanding discs and keep them around for stuff like this. They also work really well for sanding stuff that's semi fixed, like battery cables.

Copper work hardens. When they've been crushed once they will be harder to "re-crush" and may not seal well. You can heat them with a torch to anneal them, copper is just easy that way. It's handy to have an assortment of copper and aluminum crush washers on hand when you own old cars...

Had a small window to get under the car and cranked down on everything. Initial turn of the key didnt have fuel pissing. I got some fresh Chevron 91 octane & their Fuel Treatment. Will dump that in and see what happens when I turn the key.

Guesses? More fuel pissing or fire it up MB reliability?

Be ready to take the fuel dist off. When they sit to long, the plunger will stick and dump gas like crazy.

When you crank the car, take a 12mm wrench to the fuel line that goes to the distributor and crack it open. It should just weep out and not spray out. If nothing comes out, tap the line with the wrench because the flare might be seated still.

If you you're getting the fountain of fuel, you're gonna have to take the dist off and try to free up the plunger or worse, split the dist and reseal it.

Thanks for the bump... heres where we're at: Fuel pump & fuel filter are installed (with no leaks) and working but still no start. I guess it’s time to move out from under the car and move under the hood. I’ve heard that I should check at the fuel injectors, but also heard I should check at the fuel distributor.

Open to suggestions on what y’all suggest.

I should have finally the 16v motor ready to be shipped out this weekend and then the Benz is the only distraction besides the money thats burning a whole in my pocket.

Does it look like a need for speed car yet?

                                If not, why?

I need to live vicariously through your project cars because my progress is like going backwards now.
