My most valuable resources were people looking over my shoulder and telling me what I was doing wrong.

There are some things on the internet that you can reference for the basics, tho.

boo. your welds look pretty good for being a n00b at TIG. I picked up wire feed and shielded pretty quick on my own time. Im sure TIG cant be too difficult.

Im woking on a stoked and supercharged M42, so i will be making my own intake manifold at some point. should be a whole lot of fun

My first attempt at a throttle cable was some brake line and some bulkhead fittings I had. In the back of my mind, I knew that braided teflon brake hose did not have the compressive resistance (axial) to operate as a throttle cable, but here's how it turned out:

Needless to say, it did not work. Well, it didn't work as well as it should, so I purchased a LOKAR 72" throttle cable. I don't think it looks as interesting, but it's damn close.

        Installed

The E30 normally pulls the throttle from a link that opens to a hole in the firewall that's located outboard of the brake booster.

        That's unacceptable for two reasons.

        1) It's even further from the throttle bodies.
        2) Since I moved my brake booster, it's also right behind the brake booster.

So I relocated it to just above the pedal. This required adding a link to the factory pedal. I still need to add a spring in here somewhere, I don't want to rely on the throttle springs to return the pedal. Also, the RB throttle bodies have a MUCH higher spring rate than the BMW single throttle body, so I may need to beef up the pedal. It's just shitty plastic.

Also got the fuse panel mounted:

Here's a preview of my master cylinder reservoir. Mounting this thing is proving to be a pain in the ass:

            OK, got back to work.

Here were my test fitting cuts on the dash. It's a good thing that I have 2! (This one was cracked to shit anyway)

So then I got around to cutting it for real, with a holesaw. It came out pretty good but there were some gaping holes on the backside... had to think of something to cover them up...

So i still had some pre-preg CF left over from my closeoff... I wish that the dash was a little flatter, as this would work a lot better.

I may change it up, still unsure. It'll probably be a winter project or something...

And lastly I test fit my new wing, dropping that off for paint today...

So i haven't worked on this thing in ages, until recently. I was going to try and finish it up and then just bust it out at a sprng meet, but to be honest, posting this shit and getting feedback inspires me to work on it more, so:

                        01/19/10 - Power Distribution

01/20/10 - HID bulbs and relay holder

01/21/10 - Fuse block and wiring cont.

Just read through the build for the first time and decided to shit my pants to see if I could reproduce the color of your car but alas a healthy shit comes out just a bit darker than that. In all honesty though I'm envious because my 89' 325is pales in comparison. We all modify our cars as an expression of ones self. That being said whats the point of staying true to a BMW type fashion? I mean none of us design BMW's, none of us are from Germany, and surely none of us are on the assembly line so none of us should technically have a reason to express ourselves in a fashion that exudes BMW pride, unless we want to be the arrogant type of owners who own a BMW for the sheer purpose of claiming to own one. So I say to all BMW modifiers that you are merely lemmings if you continue to support oem styling.
