So I go to get that gas tank today. I called them yesterday and told them I was going to come get the tank.
I drove 40 miles to their yard and tell them I'm here for the tank. Guys like it'll be a few minutes. An hour and a half later he comes out and is like it'll be a few more minutes they've almost got it off. About 30 minutes later he comes out and says well we got it off and its bad. We don't have time to pull another one.
I left him my contact information for when he gets a good one off. I don't expect him to call me.1992 318ic

Just got the new tank in. Looks to be in good shape. I did hit up all the seams with paint though just to make sure.
Now i just have to figure out how to get this drive shaft off. I removed all the heat shields but its got a collar around the flex disk and I have no idea how to get to the nuts on the back.1992 318ic

Old tank
Notice the spout for the big hose and how its not there. Oh and the rust.
New tank, less rust!
I touched up any surface rust with paint so it should outlast the car
Fuel sending unit, going to have to reuse this. Any way to clean it up?

Got the new tank on and it runs great. Haven't tried to fill it all the way up yet but I'm sure it will be fine. Also just like my diff it is now only held in by 3 bolts.1992 318ic

Sounds like history repeating itself.. this is like a line by line recount of my 87e I had a few years ago. It was a rusty pile of shit, the inside smelt like "old car" and it broke continuously.
And it was hands down the most special car to me I've owned. LOL I don't get it.Comment

With the whity posts that you have been keeping some of us amused , I don't give a fuck what you do to the car, just keep doing it.Originally posted by payney8We heard economics is american for card game t/f ? :PComment

so now that you are familiar working on an e30.....
take off all the good parts like engine and tranny, glass, radio etc
sweep up the body of the car (i'm sure it fell apart after removing subframes)
throw it in the trash
Buy a rust-free30 without an engine and trans
put working parts in it
BOOM you gotz a really nice car nao mayne!Comment
