To answer your question iamcreepingdeath they don't quite work.

They are big enough to fit completely over the shock without having to take anything apart. So being the engineers we are my friend fatty and I decided to put them on upside down... for science.

This could be a slight issue.

    Also so could this

Review one complete, don't buy $30 ebay coilovers. Just don't do it.

soap-man: as i said in a PM to you, those coilovers need moar welding, cutting, grinding, and a whole lot of McGyvering.

Are those pics from the rear suspension? if so, what are the springs doing around the shocks!! rig up some spring seats and put the springs where they go between the subframe and the control arm! and on the front, rig an upper and lower spring perch.

In fact, check out IE's coilover spring perches that are weld-on: http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...unt2=910468697

Mcgyver would just use a paperclip as a spring and a rubber band to hold it all together.

These will not mount between the subframe and the control arm. They are way too big. If I put just the springs in they would pop right out because they aren't designed to take the lateral movement our suspension has as it moves up and down. The threaded part would be resting on the subframe! Nope these are going in the round filing cabinet unless someone wants to pay me shipping to send them to them.

Also on IE's spring perches they have a lip to keep them from sliding down the perch and the springs that go on are much smaller diameter to keep them from rubbing the body.

gotcha. get the IE spring perches and get the Eibach springs at IE that go with the perches. They are made for the E30.

Got it back to the way it was plus new belts. Only issue I have with it now is an odd temp gauge. It goes up when I drive but not much just a bit and then goes back to the middle when I'm parked or at a light.

Your rust bucket reminds me of mine, 100%. I feel the same way about it too... my e46 would be so angry with me if she knew I loved the e30 more..

I'm a bit further along in the rustbucket repairs, and in order to ensure longevity I just picked up a clean rust-free chassis, also a black sedan. One day I'll just swap everything cool to the clean car, and swap the stock stuff to rusty and drive it until something rusts off and causes me to crash. At least this way I can justify doing all this work to this car the 'correct' way, and don't have to worry about restoring the underside of a car that was lost to rust a decade ago, looks the same as yours under there, including the rocker that someone used as a jack point.

                  Do work!
