Sanding for hours just plain sucks...but I get satisfaction out of working on my own car .
Front is fitted for the first time to see how it all fits. I need to get more hardware, somehow I came up short and need more square / flat bolts.
Trim will come off tomorrow before painting, I'll do the same with rear.

While I haven’t posted in this thread yet -
- just want to note that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the sort of grass-roots (re)building and extreme makeover done on this car.
The m30, euro bumpers, and Mtech I exterior touches really make for a fun formula of a proper ‘e30 project car’ – not to mention the vast array of new parts thrown at it.
Capital.

Shit.... it's because all my previous cars had a thing called "warranty" I didn't need to change the damn oil! Bring it in, drop it off, oil changed/car washed, done.

Started the day by taking the valances/bumpers off to remove the trim.
car is dirty slut
then mounted the bumpers/valances back on the car
and started by taping the car off
I went with OMNI (http://www.914club.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=17931) paint from a local paint shop, it's not very expensive and was recommended.
Pinepig will agree it layed easy...
First coat ...
Surface sanding marks etc show through the first light coat
Then you wait for it to dry..... and look at the skirts I have to finish sanding tomorrow FTL....
Now goes on 2nd coat... now this is better
It also hides the 320grit sanding marks...
Does not hide 320grit stuff completely...clear will take care of that...
Then you stare at the stuff as you wait before you can spray the clear...
and you watch some Red Planet on AMC while you wait some more....
Clear....
now we are getting somewhere....
While it's not perfect, it is more than good enough since this isn't a show car by any means
Tomorrow I have to take these off the car, mount the trim and replace the a/c fan with the spal fan...Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

It's a learning process, but as I was telling Charlie (pinepig) I have newfound respect for high quality body/paint work. Prep work is not easy..... and I probably could have done more sanding etc...but I had to call it "good enough" and let him spray paint.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205
