My car is finally a late model!!! Kinda.
And after rear bumper swap...
Tucked back away...
Also installed a Bass Knob in my center console, used a dremel to cut out a slot for it. Ill get a pic later.
Got a package from Ireland engineering....should be going in soon, trying to get my
Car smoked tested to find a vacuum leak.
Replacing the clutch fan with an e-fan, and changing all 20 year old hoses with 3 layer silicon hoses.
Also working on a heat shield for my MAF air filter, going to do the throttle body coolant bypass as well. Then I'm going to do another hour of tuning on the dyno. Hoping to get 170whp
So I did my first Auto X, and man, was that fun, too bad my car didn't make it. On my last run, my car started to get hot, and some coolant started peeing out the overflow (temps didnt get past 3/4 on the gauge tho thankfully). I let it cool off and later found I lost my belt for the alternator, which also drives the water pump, So I drove to the nearest kragen (keeping a close eye on temps) and bought a new belt, and when i attempted to do it in the parking lot, my dad Power steering pulley tensioner bolt was stripped, so I couldnt take off the PS belt in order to get the alternator belt on. So I had to snip the PS belt to install new belt, and i was back home safely but now have no Power steering. But Steve (BluntTech) will take care of me. So not a complete fail ahah.
Someone at the auto x was kind enough to take pics of everyone, so heres some of mine :)
Also my first rolling shots I've seen of my car.
And a video of one of my runs.

So, I keep getting a Code 1211 from the stomp test., the CEL is not on, but that's what code pops up. It says to replace the DME, I did the shut off, thirty seconds etc, several times, and it continues to come back. Car runs great tho.
Did you have the head checked out by a machine shop or anything or did you just throw a head "refresh" kit at it and call it good?
Trying to decide what route I want to take. Cost VS. Longevity/Reliability is killing me. I don't want to spend a lot because i'm going to beat the car up on the track but at the same time I don't want it to explode after one lap. Thoughts and opinions? Great build dude!
I didn't have the head checked, because it was my own still and I knew it was fine...but yes, just a head refresh kit, seals, gaskets, etc.
I would go somewhere in between, these m20's are strong, inspect everything, if its questionable, change it. unless you like breaking down, especially if its a dedicated track car.
I'm on a low budget, I just came up on lots of great deals, just dont forget about maintenance.
I'd recommend take your budget and split it in half. half for maintenance things and other half for "new upgrades". And of course, upgrade while changing is my philosophy.
Very impressed! Good build. Good thread. Nice attitude.
Been looking at picking up a POS Jet Ski to have some fun with. Gotta get the track car built first! I'm also gonna be building a stroker 2.7i. Did you have the head checked out by a machine shop or anything or did you just throw a head "refresh" kit at it and call it good?

Oh, and the first run was my first pull (no tuning), red was final tune...well until I can afford more time on the dyno, gotta pay rent! haha.
And a shout out to DynoSport Racing in SJ,CA. Lawrence is the man, and knows the Miller set up well.
Big Update!!!! Did a valve adjustment, installed 8mm IE Ignition wires, and also got my car tuned and dyno'd!!! I think I got some pretty good numbers for a car with nearly 297k on the clock. Considering I started with 121 crank hp, my budget stroker build has definately paid off. Anyone know what a stock supereta puts down to a dynojet? prob like 100whp?
Onto the pics,
Ignition wires....
iPhone snapshot that I came up on after parking my car there to refill my water jug.
Sub Box...
Pic on the dyno

And the results!!!!
163whp/156wtq. Still some left, tuner believes he can pull 2-3 more out from ignition timing, I only got 2 hours on the dyno and messed with the fuel maps and hardly touched ignition.
And super suprised with my mpg's from San Fran ---> San Jose commute.
And a toy I'm gonna have some fun with this summer :)
Yesterday I replaced my injectors with cleaned/rebuilt m50 injectors. Also, replaced the coolant temp sensor....idle is better, code 1215 is no longer there, only for my oxygen sensor which is coming in the mail. It only cost me 30$ shipped, and its from a ford e-350 with a 16" lead that I'll splice into my old o2/plug, I hope its long enough to reach my o2 bung.
just read up your whole build thread, makes me wish I took more time with my e30s and put a little more effort into them like you have. Awesome car man.
