Got some Corrado g60 rotors for the rx7 bbk. Gonna get them bored on the lathe at work.
I just need to order new pads (rx7 fronts/e30 rears). I'm torn, I dont want a noisy pad, but Im greedy for max braking. I kinda want the porterfield r4s's but hear they're noisy.
So thinking of going with Axxis Ultimates since theyre cheap and seem to have good reviews.
I need some good brakes for that i've had the brakes smoking before from driving canyons downhill. But I daily my e30 too, so don't wanna hear me squealing up to stop lights....thats just embarrassing.
From a nice curvy road that dead-ended on me. Was very smooth, which allowed me to go fast :)
Didn't see one headlight either, no one out there. No houses.
My friend (previous owner), told me the 02 hasnt been washed for atleast 3-4 years sitting under a cover.
I believe him :)(SOLD) 1988 327i Build Thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=155086

Wired up my city lights finally. Been lagging like crazy.
Got em wired up to the sidemarkers.
Also washed both cars ;)
Also got a new iS lip, gonna be ordering some fog light deletes and new hardware to hold all the valance stuff in because I straightened back out my valance from the Auto X incident(SOLD) 1988 327i Build Thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=155086

So at school my friend showed me how we could use a laser printer at our disposal. So I decided to make a keychain for my 2002 and found a cool piece of plastic there so decided to make a coaster as well.
My friend printed some awesome art on some plywood for his girlfriend. it looked amazing cuz he did several passes which gave the picture depth. the laser etches the wood quite deep at higher powers.
How much would you guys pay for a pic of your choice on a keychain like this? I could do this as a side gig...thinking $10-15 shipped?
So I got my block and rotating assembly back from the machine shop. APM Custom Engine, Felix did a great job, RA looks amazing. He balanced the pistons, rods, to .5 gram of each other, lightened/surfaced a single mass flywheel, polished crank, bored, honed, and decked the block and made everything look brand new pretty much.
Its Build Time!
He got the flywheel down to 16.1 lbs. He only shaved the outer backside.
Also. FYI, a m52 crank weighs 45.8 lbs
Thats all for now. Ill post some more after i install fog deletes and paint the block.
Also pretty excited that I might have a hook up with a job at Tesla for R&D, so super excited about that. Fresh outta (not even yet, graduate in May) college first job at Tesla? I like how that sounds.(SOLD) 1988 327i Build Thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=155086

That keychain looks sick! Could you do an e30? Late model plastic bumper, IS lip and camber? :rofl
Congrats on the pending Tesla job! Sounds awesome! What kind of degree do you have/getting?-Christian

I think he mentioned that he was getting a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, so Tesla makes sense.
Also - awesome build. This thread has a million things going on - if you were to go back and start from scratch ('87 ETA, to be specific), what would you do different? I've also got vacuum leaks, need to get a smoke test to figure out where but I just haven't had time.
Would you go Megasquirt from the beginning? It seems like you've done and then redone a lot of work.
Many kudos, clearly you've put a lot of time and love into this car.sigpic

You're correct. I am getting my ME degree...
What I have learned from my 8 years of e30 ownership/modifying is:
1) YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! Pick 2. (Fast) (Reliable) (Cheap).
2) I felt similar power gains by doing simple maintenance like cap/rotor/spark plugs wires, plugs, k&N filters, etc.
3) Don't cut springs for the low and expect anything but crap lol. *Ground Control full kit Rocks*
I have mixed emotions about Miller War chip. Im not sure if its the chip or my old 305k motor thats acting up. I havent tried out megasquirt yet tho, so let me answer that question later.
For your 87 eta, what do you want? Where do you live? Is turbo allowed? Whats your budget? PM Me with that and I can tell ya what I would do.
To be honest, I was actually talking to my dad about this the other day, He is suprised I still have it and is impressed with what I have transformed it to (He's and oldschool chevy guy). He's given respect to the little go-kart like BMW. Wait till he feels the power of a turbo'd inline 6.
He figured I would have crashed it before I left high school. He was wrong....95k miles and 8 years of abuse it has taken..and 0 accidents. *knocks on wood*.
And I can make an e30 one, but I dont have any more of those wooden keychains, I can make em out of plastic.Last edited by 88SuperETABD; 02-09-2014, 08:35 PM.(SOLD) 1988 327i Build Thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=155086

So, I haven't updated in a while cuz school is nuts, senior project is taking hella time up, but is super fun, and I've learned how to weld because of this project. I'm getting better :)
We're making a Solar Quadricycle Hybrid vehicle. Basically a solar/electric golf cart.
Last semester we designed it all up and CAD'd it, now we have to fabricate it this semester. Super fun.
Here's some pics. If you guys care...
Fun stuff, and pretty suprised on how it turned out for my first ever fab work. lol, just dove in, couple practice beads then started on the frame. now i have the confindence to go CRAZY with my 2002 build.
Back to some e30 stuff, even though i've been broke lately. I've messed with the BBK finally.
But I need 15mm spacers to clear the caliper instead of my 10s. Which means i need new studs too. FML.
Polished the pistons
Will get a stock caliper weight when i take mine off.
Fits....but hits the nub
Also took apart the oil pump from the old engine and everything seems okay, Nothing wrong with reusing it right?

SO F&#@IN Happy!!!!!!!!!!!! I finished college up today at SJSU, Mechanical Engineering. Can't wait to start a career. Thats why I havent been on and been so busy.
Some updates....And for a final product on my senior project if you guys are interested... Here.
Here's a fun video we showed of our prototype working. I learned how to weld with this project and it gave me the confidence to tackle all the metal work I plan to do on my 2002.
Now to the e30 stuff you guys care more about...
So I got some bigger spacers (20mm) to fit the BBK. #Hellaflush! Lol.
I love how the tire pokes out the side...this is probably my favorite angle of my e30/a car.
Here's a pic of me and a friend Eric's car at a lil meet up in San Jose.
Basically twins.
Time to slip this crank spacer for my 2.9L m20 on. Thanks to Matteo for the help on extra torch power and the hookah tongs :)
And after its on/where it goes.
Keyways arent hit in all the way.
Matteo also sold me a resurfaced 323i euro flywheel :) Since i gave me lightened/resurfaced m20 flywheel to a friend so he can attend his drift track day he had paid for.
Heres a comparison pic to show people... The back side of my old lightened m20 ~15 lbs
323i flywheel ~13.5 lbs
Bad pic, but notice the diagonal step down which was machined out, you can mimic this on the m20 flywheel, but you gotta know how deep you can go. also you need a lathe big enough. my machinist only had his mill, so he just took down the back flat.
This lil shit made my BBK install a little more difficult
But i got her on
and the other side
Wish my struts werent red now...
wheel on.
Theres plenty of clearance, could have use a 17mm spacer probably. a 15mm works, but theres like 3 thou of clearance.
The pop :)
AND THEY STOP!
The braking has MUCH improved even only just swapping calipers/bleeding. gonna do a brake fluid flush when i put my orange stock rear e30 brakes with bronze bushings on. but going to bimmerfest and dont have enuf time for that cuz of school. that will be next weekend :)
Hope to meet some of you guys I see on here @ Bimmerfest...whoever's going. You'll find me with some other SJ e30 guys.(SOLD) 1988 327i Build Thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=155086

My SuperEta. If only I had more funds!
Some updates...
Got some rolling shots taken, I posted them in a diff thread, but figured they belong here too cuz I sold the RX's
Dont worry, they went to another e30 owner :) haha.
Got an insane deal on a set of wheels. Shout out to Leo @ Veloximo & Detail Addict, he's the man for any needs related to wheels or detailing or pdr. His website is http://veloximo.com/
and he's also a e30 owner and enthusiast so why not keep the business in the community :)
Need some fender work before i can roll like this :) 10mm spacer is too much but looks sick! haha.
how it is
I love the front fitment
Which leads to some engine building :)
Finally got off the lazy train went down and installed the crank since i had the ARP studs, bearings and assembly lube.
All crank journals were mic'd and plastigauged. All my clearances are good. All at .002 +or- .0001. My machinist did a good job polishing or something, cuz they were all the same.
He also countersunk the holes
Talk about Stroker Tight?
