So I pulled a pretty nice 885 head from picknpull...(hasnt been milled yet). Will be the head for my 2.9L. Plans for this head will be DIY Polish, Beehive Valve Springs, HD Rockers, get the stock cam that came in it reground to a turbo grind if possible, rebuild everything, basically make it new.

WHat do you turbo guys do for valves? +1 mm valves good? Are the IE ones good? Vac's are expensive.
Can i just clean up the original valves and get a 3 angle job and be good? Enlighten me please.

My awesome work bench :) HAha!

    [/URL]

Also working on getting my car switched over to MS2. So will be getting this bung welded to replace my Miller MAF.

I started cleaning up the head...

also popped the valves out and have em cleaning in chem dip...dunno if this stuff works. ~30$ gamble. lol

    ........

And for the people that like hot rods...here's the other project getting worked on.

    327 bored .030 over (332cid)
    Dual 500cc Edelbrock Carbs
    262 Isky Cam
Edelbrock E-210 Aluminum heads. (2.08" Intake, 210cc runners)
    ARP Hardware everywhere...
    10:1 Pistons...

Put down 220whp/302wtq on the old stock heads and single shitty carb....it will see the dyno soon for tuning.

It's noticeably running better/smoother/more powerful up top/torquier down low.
It broke a stock motor mount already. So couldnt get a good burnout video...so here's some revs ;)

The IE valves are good quality but you're looking at a decent chunk of change to buy those and have the head machined to accept them. There's nothing wrong with cleaning up the stock valves and running them. Have a machine shop grind the valves and valve seats.

If you're going to be porting and polishing your head it'd be a good idea to have it hot tanked to be as clean as possible.

And a shameless plug, we sell a dual pattern turbo cam. :)

        Back to e30's Haha

First off, Berryman's chem dip works pretty darn well as you can see. The bucket says 15-30 mins..theyre high. Did nothing in that short amount of time...but over night...it cleaned em up great!
        Before:

        After:

I'm cleaning up the rods/pistons, Gonna make ashtrays out of the pistons for myself and friends since I doubt anyone needs eta pistons, maybe try to sell rods heh.

        Cleaned up the valves

        Had the head cleaned...

It's hard to catch with my camera, but I have a shiny surface on the exhaust ports and chambers. I used abrasive pads like these on a dremel and went to town...it takes no metal off, just polishes. Is that all I want to do? or do i wanna sand it down to be super smooth so theres no pores in the metal?

        what i used: http://www.searsoutlet.com/Abrasive-...85&mode=seeAll

Any tips on head porting/polishing is greatly welcomed...

And whats the rule on intake polishing? I hear good and bad...I hear the old rule of dont polish the intake is obsolete because the injectors are pointed directly at the valve. where as the old polishing rules were for the older carberated engines.

I understand the surface tension of fuel wanting to stick to a smooth surface, but I'm gonna be using injectors for turbo so thats HIGH Velocity, i doubt its gonna stick getting blasted straight at the valve. I'd think you'd want the air moving as fast as possible so you can get the air at the same speed as the fuel so it can atomize.

Damn...so I thought Auto X was completely safe and you can't really screw up your car. Well...cones can do some damage.. Haha.

Here's a video of my fastest lap...i still have a few secs to shake off with my driving skills lol or lack of. Was looking at the standings tho and happy to say I can compete with some nice cars...

My first run out I think I was too excited and came in way too hot and slid into 2 cones...well one got pinched between the fender and tire and pull it out and cracked the paint. Also the valance got pushed back and in on the passanger side and broke the foglight :( *Sigh*

I still finished my runs tho.

So I have been busy with school so not much done. I've been playing with the head P&P.

I want that porous part to be smooth just like the area next to it that BMW sanded right???

Also changed the wideband o2 sensor for the mtx-l. you can get it at o'reillys for cheaper. was 51$

                a tad lean..it fluctuates from 14.5-15.0.

Here's a pic of the car Auto X Ready :)

And I should throw away my cat bed I bought for him...

Got the new version of the gear. RM-racing has great customer service.

I also tried on my friends wheels (16x9 et25) with a 225/45. I found a 10 mm spacer makes a 225 sit PERFECT in my rolled fenders. What you think? I've decided on the wheels I'm gonna get. Just gotta figure out if they'll fit the front...I'll tell ya this. I want 16x9 square.

I like this pic a lot

Also traded a eta head for an extra i manifold/valve cover/tb. That way I don't have to rip apart my current motor to finish this one :)
The manifold is next on the list....typical wrinkle black with polished ribs.

Also this will be replacing my Miller MAF soon. Close to geting DIYMS2PNP finished.

I wish I had more pics those wheels were the ccw classics replicas. They're a friends, just tried them on to test offsets. I'd say its safe to say a 16x9 et25 fits with a 225/45 with no spacer on back with lots of room. The pics have a 10mm spacer with still enuf room
For no rubbing. Or maybe no spacer + more tire!

I didn't try the fronts. I plan to next time I visit my
                          Friend.

Ive started my last year of school so the engine build had kinda slowed...now I have time
                          And no money hah.

I cleaned up the head ports and everything. The heads basically ready to be either assembled or get more port/polishing.

Also cleaned up the intake manifold and continued the usual
                          Theme.

I also ordered new used foglights and the brackets/adapters/seals for the rx7 bbk.
But they got shipped to my
Parents house and been too busy to go get em.

                          Hoping my pistons come soon...

Here's the brake adapters and rebuild kits

since my car was/is an eta it doesnt have an oil cooler, So i found a clean one from pick n pull. i filled it with oil and it didnt leak anywhere...also pressure tested it at work...i wanted to replace the hoses so I cut them off and now i regret it because my hydraulic hose place doesnt have the collars to crimp on the new hoses, theyre telling me to use hose clamps.
What do you guys use for those have replaced these lines? OEM BMW is like 100+$ each.

Yummy. Oil everywhere haha...its seeping somewhere. no drips ever really.

Put these up in that oily mess....my car feels more like a race car than a street car now..

For the biggest update and coolest picture in this thread...I give you...my pistons...
It's been WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!!

My new rotating assembly will be so light! These 6 forged pistons are 1 lb lighter than the stock cast pistons. My rods take about 1.5 lbs out of the assembly as well...This engine should rev nicely i would think...

                            stock cast 2.7 eta piston

                            Paul Burkes Turbo Pistons

Now I just gotta sell some shit and save up for the machine work...
Getting the block tanked, bored, surfaced, and honed and o ringed
                            The cranks getting polished.
3 angle valve job (possibly new guides if out of spec)
