Sorry guys, the swap just came to a screeching halt for this weekend. There was no pilot bearing in with my parts order, and we just realized it after we got the flywheel bolted up. Unless I can find one at an auto parts store tomorrow, we're screwed until a replacement shows up. I'm going to start calling in the morning, hopefully someone has one.

We did manage to get the entire rear end back in the car, subframe is back in, and rear wheels bearings have been changed out. I never want to do that job again. Still have to put the diff back in after we reseal it all, but the entire rear end is back in the car. Feels good to have that giant pain in the ass done.

I'll get another one soon enough, I just don't have it this weekend, which is when the engine was supposed to go in. I took the day off work today so I'd have the whole weekend for working on the car. Shit happens, I should have checked before we got ready to do everything before today.

Doesn't matter anyway, it is what it is. We're going to reseal the diff tomorrow and get it bolted up, and do whatever little things we can.

Nut side up makes getting the skid plate (if you have one) on and off a total biatch.

So you're planning on dropping the engine and tranny in together?

Exactly. I would much rather have everything bolted up before we drop it in, bolting the clutch and transmission up from under the car is a giant pain in the ass.

How much of the front end do you have disassembled? I'd be worried about being able to get a good enough angle (even with a load-leveler) to drop the engine/tranny in together. I had a hard time doing it with my M42.

Everything, the front end is totally bare. Underneath, the subframe and steering rack are still bolted in.

Crisis averted! Just spent the last 20 minutes calling every auto parts store in town, and found a place that has a pilot bearing, on my way to get it right now!

If you jack the ass end up a bit it helps a lot! :)

Word. Get it as high as you can on all four corners on jackstands.

I've put jackstands on rear, and front wheels off, floorjack on subframe, all the way down. Maximize the angles you gave to work with.

So we did like everyone suggested, and dropped the front of the car down on its nuts, worked like a charm! Had some troubles here and there as usual for dropping an engine in, but the bastard is in! We're hooking up all the electricals and fuel/coolant stuff tomorrow, but the engine/transmission are IN.

Flywheel bolted up with new pilot bearing:

G260 bolted up with new clutch:

                              Initial droppage of M50:

Fully lowered and bolted in. It's IN.

Bitches don't know about my grabber green transmission brace:
