Here's a couple update pics for you subscribers, not much happening right now but work on shaving the bay.

Somewhat large hole left by a spot weld:

                Patch in place before welding:

Patch welded and sanded, will still require some filler before paint:

We're having a bitch of a time in some of the lower areas of the bay, like the 2 spots in the lower left of the first pic where the lower bracket for the washer fluid bottle was. The sheet metal is so thin that the welder is just burning right through the metal instead of filling it, and we ran out of wire last night. Same story on the other side, but we can't get anymore wire for the welder until next week. :*(

Setback today, the powdercoaters called and said that sandblasting my valve cover pretty much ruined it. There was one small pit/hole in it, but he said now there's hundreds of them, and a lot of the material itself was stripping away when they tried to blast it. The oil filter housing cover came out fine, tho. So now I need a new valve cover. Groan.

I was going to replace the head gasket, one of those "might as well do it while I have it on a stand things", unless you know for sure that it was good.

If it's the same as m62 valve covers, I had good results with having a local machine shop tank them instead of blasting them.

Probably is, I think I'll do that instead. That saves me from having to clean the inside, too. Thanks!
