the smoother bed liner does look nice. My monitor cant show blacks well so im assuming its almost a flat black kind of texture. If so go for it. Seriously Josh, get a bunch of your friends and pay them in beers and have them all help you with the engine bay. I dunno. :(

Edit: I just saw you decided to do the bedliner. I hope it comes out nice.

I'm down with the bedliner but the more textured the better IMHO.

People that don't care for the bedliner... just wait until I get pics.

I just finished the 2nd coat on the passenger side, and it looks amazing. I like it even more than I liked the gloss black paint (before the clear, of course). Very lightly textured, not super-bumpy like the pic above.

Good to hear that you're happy with it, I know how it feels to fuck up with paint.

Wow Josh, that sucks! I wouldn't do bed liner in your bay though. I really don't think you are going to be happy with it later on.

Damn, bummer luck man! But glad to see you're liking the bed liner. Post up pics so we can see! Personally I was digging the less-textured version in that old V8 picture over the Nissan motor, but to each his own

It's not nearly as textured as that stuff in the Nissan bay, trust me, you are all going to dig it. And I have to side with white325ism something more durable in the engine bay really does make more sense.

Can't wait to see it Josh! Sounds killer. And I do agree, something very durable makes sense. Especially when you're gonna throw a swap in there! Props and good luck with the rest!

I keep going and googling the damn bedliner bays. I really am kind of sold on it. I'll hold out and play it safe for the first time ever and wait until I see yours done, Josh ;)

not sure if anyone typed this yet, but the problem was, you used a 1 stage paint as a base coat, then sprayed a 2 stage clear over it. if you clear something (2 stages) the first stage (color) should NEVER be glossy-- the clear does that.

best of luck with the bed liner, but you are going to need to prep the area (sand) all of it anway-- or it is going to peel in no time.

the pic of the lifting that white 325is posted comes from a lack of a sealer-- it is the bondo, or old paint bleeding through.

what do you need a more durable paint for in an engine bay?

I missed that, if thats the case, and that would be correct.
