Havent touched this car for quite some time, had lots of sidework in my shop lately and finally got the car back in tonight, but not for long unfortunatly, will be doing a 1jz swap on my brothers s14 240sx within the next couple weeks.
Well, this doesnt happen often....i got a great score on a full set of JIC coilovers off a gc8 subaru on craigslist for 50 bucks! They were dirty(cleaned them up at work the next day) but everything is fully functional except one of the rear strut inserts which appears to be blown.
Pillow ball upper mounts front and rear, camber plates in the front, everything is high quality as one would expect from JIC.
The gc8 subarus weigh in around 2650lb curb weight which is similar to my e30, so the valving and spring rates should be decently close.
I will be making full body one piece coilovers for the rear, my cage will be tied into the upper mounts, so no issues there.
Ill remove the studs and weld up the holes and redrill/tap for the bmw pattern
Ill replace the socket heads with button heads to clear the strut tower to allow clearance for adjusting the camber
Traced the rear shock mount and i will cut it out and drill and tap for the studs.
More progress tomorrow, i have cut the front strut tubes already, need to remove the existing brackets on the coilover bodys then weld them to the strut tubes.
Every part of your front end is spotless, and I get a little jealous but then I think about how much time you must have into that... Keep it up!
Yes, lots and lots of time, and lately i have been wishing i just did a quick clean up and then dropped an m50 in it with my vems and an hx40 and be driving around in a 500hp e30 right now but i suppose i took this route and im a bit stuck now. I will love the car when im done but i know for a fact i will end up building another one, just to race, because the thought of this car getting trashed on a track is enough to make me sick :(
Love your Disco. Been eyeballing your thread on Pirate4x4.
Love the work going into the Volvo swap! So clean and professional.
Thanks man, happy with the land rover for now, a rear locker and some new tires are definitely wanted but i think ill leave it for now. Need to get this e30 driving!
