yea i've bought a few things, plugs, wires, icv, oil filter, oil, radiator fan because mine had broken blades, new coolant, new diff fluid, fuel filter, air filter, water pump and timing belt/tensioner, Going to go to a local shop and see what they charge me to run a 2.5" straight pipe back to a single in dual out magnaflow, also trying to fix my power steering and heating/ac. Gona go get new control arms/bushing, tie rods soon also. So i think i got a pretty good start. In two months i get more money from school so i'll be doing a head swap =)

If your's is an eta you may want to consider a 3.25 diff, a MarkD or Turner chip, a shifter overhaul and some good shocks/springs/tires and just save up for a future motor swap. I did that and it really "feels" as close to my 325i as I could have hoped for. The head swap seems like a big project with questionable returns vs. the above mods.

That is just my opinion based on a little bit of expierence so don't let me disuade you, just document it so i can read along :D.

dude i'm so pumped on your build. Well with the Head Sswap i should be right around the same hp and what not of an "I" Not to mention i'll be getting new rods, pistons, all new seals and gaskets, basically a whole rebuild. A prt and polished head with 3 angle valve job, and then this fall i'll be buying a turbo kit with the rest of my student loans. So the head swap will be good considering it drops compression to i believe it's 8:1:1. I'm going to start my build thread soon, if you would like to sub haha. Any ways enough about my terdy 30. I hope this gets done soon, i'm really looking forward to the project you have going on.

That sounds fun. I will watch for that thread for sure. I would love to turbo but I feel its a bit out of my comfort zone. Seems to be lots of magical psi and compression ratio voodoo and whatnot .

I am going to paint it a dark navy blue color, single part enamel with no metallic. Nice and easy and should have good contrast with the chrome bumpers. Basically this is what I am aiming for (no idea who's car this is):

No, it's not hard at all, there is a post in the DIY section that covers it. Basically you need to drill a couple holes but everything otherwise is direct fit.
