Winter Project lists - 2011/12

Well kids, looks like the beginning of this winter's projects might be starting a little sooner than anticipated, I ripped open the front of the Magnaflow (first muffler) backing out of the garage today. My driveway is ridiculously steep, and it's been scraping every time I crest it going into the garage. Just a little bit of the can at the front, but it's a pretty decent leak and it's now twice as loud.

Hahaha, I honestly didn't realize that everyone makes winter project lists. My car's going to be in heated storage, so I can work on it throughout the winter as I have time. I've been nitpicking any and everything that bothers me with my car over the past few weeks and I've come up with quite a To-Do list.


INTERIOR
• Remove Complete Interior
• Fix / adjust e-brake from popping up when driving
• Re-wire speakers + audio system
• Install audio system + Lukebox
• Paint Interior Carpet + parcel shelf + trunk carpet black
• Repaint rusty seat mounts + seatbelt mounting bars
• Re-install interior carpets + parcel shelf + trunk carpet
• Fix ash tray side lights
• Fix pass. side cabin light to come on with door
• Maplight mirror (maybe)
• Re-install crack-free dash
• Install analog clock
• Install brand new M-Tech 2 Steering Wheel
• Re-install glovebox
• Install leather E30 M3 e-brake boot + leather E34 handle
• Buy / Install Euro coin tray
• Buy / Install new A/C button with less wear
• Fix fuel gauge by replacing gauge or sender
• Replace odometer gears
• Install E36 Switches + Auto Up/Down Modules

EXTERIOR
• Paint rusty windshield wiper arms black
• Install Depo Smoked Smiley headlights + Euro grilles
• Replace Missing Passenger Side Fender Trim Piece
• Shadowline trim
• Fit Euro Bumpers to car
• Remove euro bumpers and tear-down to prep for paint
• Buy / Install Rear Plate Filler
• Paint and install M-Tech 1 Wing
• Have euro bumpers painted and install color-matched bumpers

MECHANICAL
• Purchase / install TMS steering rack spacers to keep front wheels from rubbing on front sway at full lock
• Wire up SPAL Fan with high/low settings
• Replace whining E36 power-steering pump
• Fix squealing accessory belt (tensioner or idler)
• UUC Pullies (if I find a cheap used set)
• Detail Engine Bay / Car

• Early Euro bumpers
• Early plate filler
• G.E. Coilovers, camber plates later on
• Euro clock
• Remove all tar and interior except the front seats, dash, console and door panels. Rubberized coating on floor to replace carpet.
• 2.7i Stroker (885 head on eta bottom end) + HY35 @ 10lbs tuned with MS3.

Car is stored during winter and the plans are:

1.Some rust repair
2.OBD1 M52+ZF swap
3.If the funds allow it, coilovers.
4.Refinish the ACT's

- Also pulling the whole exhaust system out and the headers, having the headers ceramic coated and custom-building a new exhaust system with a friend

I just had some exhaust manifolds ceramic coated in Bend at Commercial Powdercoating on Builders Court off of Boyd Acres. Their ceramic coating biz is a separate side business but it is all run out of the same building. Nice folks, reasonable pricing, and I like the look of the finished product (even though I have not mounted or run them with a hot engine yet).

Finish my E30 build project I started last fall/winter.

Big items remaining -

weld up mounts for remote 540 brake set up

test fit engine and fab/modify Euro E36 M3 exhaust from header back

wire up the motor/harness

install/fab spal push and/or secondary pull fan

My recent fixes include a new Dr. Vanos unit and right front wheel bearing.

Winter plans: Continue driving the hell out of it!! We're still getting 85 degree days around here!

Replace front subframe with a reinforced subframe
E30 m3 rack with new inner and outer tierods
Silence power steering delete block
Making a custom steering knuckle guibo
Install my convertible sway bar.
Try to find who sells poly sway bar mount for the stock size vert sway bar.
New control arms
E30 m3 offset bushings
Vorchlag camber plates
Then get a alignment

Install the bimmerworld brake lines by the subframe. They have been. Sitting in a box since august. Haha.

Ill be rebuilding the m20 in my 1986 325iX and turbocharging it.. should be fun :D
