Julien? not sure what you're talking about but we are only referring to appearance package cars produced in 4/91.
Here's another site showing 4/91 for the appearance package.
Anyway, sorry for the thread jacking. As was pointed out above, I think this is a generalized statement that is basically correct, however, there were some 91 Appearance packages, and possibly even some 92 full M-techs.Last edited by robrez; 03-21-2012, 01:28 PM.sigpic

Car looks amazing!
Thanks to the others for posting production numbers. I've been trying to find out the numbers for the mtech appearance cars too.
I've got a 4/92 build though!IG: deniso_nsi Leave me feedback here

cool article but some misinfo in that too. the white cars did not have brown tops. they also did not all have extended leather on the console or door pulls, they had it on the map pockets in all that i've seen.
mine's a 7/91 so pretty early.. anyone ever seen a 4/91?
realoem shows the Mtechnic parts were available from 3/91 on. from past history with BMWs and early production oddball models alot of them never reached the public.Last edited by Badgtho; 03-21-2012, 02:58 PM.

Very nice AW vert. I suggest you get rid of that big ass steering wheel and put an Mtech II steering wheel.
That would finish it off very nice.Owner - Bavarian Restoration

Thanks for posting. I knew I had seen several 91 appearance packages out there.
Here's another in black...
Hopefully Karzrtoyz or Ironman will chime in on the production month."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Why do you say that? That guy is known for compiling BMW production data which can be done if you have access to the dealer build info. Many people have access to this information online. It's not a secret. The only flaw in his research was that he only searched for VIN's in 4/91. I was pointing out the fact that he did find appearance package cars manufactured in 4/91. This would make it a 91 year model. My M Technic (albeit a full M technic) is produced 5/30/91 and is a 91 year model. It's incorrect to say all appearance packages were 92 year model. Internet is not always fact...true so let's find the facts. Do you know the month your car was produced?

I agree with Barry - this is the E30 model that has caused more confusion than any other & much of it is due to misinformation that's propagated as gospel. The ".se" link that Barry has posted above has a lot of very good info (if you translate it).[IComment

That's a question that is hard to answer. I haven't seen any definitive answers in regards to how they do it. My M3 is produced in 5/87 and there are models as early as 1/87, yet they were all 1988 year models in the US for some reason. Maybe they took longer to build...who knows. Yet, my M tech produced at the very end of 5/91 is titled as a 91. In fact, I have never seen a full M Technic titled as a 1992 but I know of some produced as late as 6/91 or 7/91."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj
