Pics of new vert. Plates came with the car and have been on it since day 1.

It should be said that for some of us it is a once in a life time chance to own one of the few cars that got us to love cars. My father drew me into cars and this BMW was one of the cars that made me love cars. My father still owns the "family" car we spent hours making into what it is today. Now I own a car that fueled my love for cars that are not American.

A married couple very close to me had owned the car since day 1, and in fact it was a christmas bonus that the husband recieved when working at emerson electronics. It was a fully loaded 1989 white on tan vert. Well she(the wife) passed away in 2002, and I have stayed very close with her husband ever since, and have continued to care for his car throughout the years. Well he has decided to simplify his life and last night turned the keys over to the car I have cared for the last 20 plus years. I now own a red vert and white vert. The white one is a 1 owner with a full repair history, new top, new interior. It needs some rear suspension work, all of which I have not begun to sort out. I am still in shock that he gave it to me and cant begin to plan for all the repairs. Pics to follow when I figure out how to get this one from NJ to GA

Today I bit the bullet and bought the white one a battery. I'm not going to jump it each time I need to move it. Plans are to do an antenna swap and BRAKES ASAP, as well as rear end overhaul.

They look great together. Awesome that you have "the" car that got you into this scene. Priceless.

Thanks man. Well my father-in-law and I got to taking the rear apart today. We are in no rush so we took it slow, and of course its hot as hell in Georgia as well. It is possible Im sure to do this all in one day, but we started late and i did not order everything I needed. We took most of the rear apart, and are at the last spot where we remove the e-brake cable, and brake lines. We also removed a hacked alarm and the stock amp, which was all hacked up. That all will be fixed in the days to come. See a few pics, not much to see, one is for reference for the e-brake spring set up.

Here is a general shot of the tear down, Yes we see some rust, and I will tend to that, but my hope is that it is only as bad as it looks.....

Drivers side rear brake setup removed, all new parts waiting to be installed.

rear e-brake setup for reference. I am ordering all new parts as I type this.

And as I left it today. Right now its cool out, and when I should be working. Today was HOT
