LOL make no mistake. I am broke.
Good point I should say. Not the ideal material to use for sure.

Right. Reason I ask is because we have had several instances where people at our shop are running synthetic oils in these older cars and every gasket sweats, leaks start from all over and no matter what you cant seal the engine up. Switching to a good conventional stops all the leaks ( or a good majority of them) My plan was to start with and potentially stick to a conventional Castrol in my E34 engine. Ive had the same issue with my M42. Apparently the molecules in the synthetic oils are smaller...??
I wonder if conventional oil would reduce your oil consumption problem but it sounds like you had ran that prior and the results are still the same.Leave a comment:

Is it synthetic?
I've used Mobil1 (15w50?) and Delvac 15w40 (mostly this) in it. Delvac is cheap and meets the required standards, which is important when the damn thing won't stop leaking or burning oil. For break in I used whatever the metric mechanic engine break in instructions pdf recommended.Leave a comment:

Yea. Id say the only thing I havent had to touch is the AC lines.Yeah that hot side is crowded no matter what you do. It has been a battle for me since day one. I'm probably going to have to revise my AC lines somehow to get them to hug the firewall better and mount the service ports higher, like where the fittings are now. At least it isn't like the E39 though, where the ABS unit is mounted where a turbo belongs.
Ive been thinking. What engine oil are you using in your E34?Leave a comment:

Here is a couple pics showing how little room we are working with on the hot side. This sht is getting ridiculous. No wonder its taken me two years to construct this mess.
Maybe I will make all the piping one color with the correct insulation. Maybe I wont. Maybe who cares. Maybe suck my balls.
The turbo is so packed in there you cant even remove it in one piece. This car needs a complete manual just to know how to work on it. Probably should of gone top mount. Wouldnt that be so easy...
Only a few more tweaks now thankfully.

Spy my meth port. I will try a single nozzle and see how that favors. If things dont work out I can move to a port injection system later. The charge pipe from compressor housing to intercooler does not fit quite right after switching the turbo and manifold. I will have to fabricate a new one with a different bend.
Getting closer to first start up.
