That is really awesome. That's sweet that the v12 is that light, I didn't think it was that light:up:-Christian

There's no way it's only 340lbs fully dressed. It blows me away how wildly inaccurate alot of engine/vehicle weights are on the internet... like how people try saying that m20s only weigh 200lbs. I've seen a pic on vorshlag with a m20+g260 on a scale and it read 499lbs. Those trannies are what, 60-70lbs? That makes a fully dressed m20 like, 430lbs. Anyway, here's my guesstimate of the parts breakdown:
Crank + pistons + rods'n'rings - 80lbs
Block - 150lbs
2x heads (m20 heads are 60 apparently) - 120lbs
2x big, fancy intake manis - 40lbs
2x zaust manifolds - 40lbs
Alternator - 20lbs
Water pump - 5lbs
PS pump - 5lbs
We're already at 460lbs and there's a ton of stuff I haven't mentioned yet. The only figure I'm pulling out of my ass is the block weight - everything else has been rough weight figures from a m20.
Found a reference pic to back up what I said about the vorshlag photo that I can't seem to find anymore
per the OP in that thread that weight figure is without a flywheel & was measured in kilos.
If I had to guess I'd say this engine is about 500lbs wet & ready for actionLast edited by jalopi; 10-15-2014, 01:17 PM.Comment

BMWfans lists the rmfg short block at 346.1lbs....and that's w/out intake manis.
I think we'll be closer to 520+ lbs fully dressed.
I could weigh mine, it's "fully dressed"......and out of the car....but don't have a scale the right scale. ...lol1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment
