    So some small updates.

Still undecided on what to do about the motor. Simce compression was good I am still considering building the current B25 bottom end, but havng the SuperETA B27 in the garage is tempting. In the meantime I picked up a NOS BNIB Schrick 272 cam from a local (dirty30). I had planned to get a regrind but it was local and the price was good, and in the process I met Ryan's brother Jeremy, who is a cool guy with his own shop and a very nice S-swapped e30 track car.

I also picked up a set of powdercoated door handles and a powdercoated valve cover. Nothing that I NEEDED, but I snagged them anyway.

I took some better pictures of the damage to the left front- the damage that was concealed by the replacement fender:

I also started the rust remediation on the rear of the car using POR-15 and fiberglass mesh. I went to town with the grinder, wire wheel, and sandpaper, then started applying POR-15, using POR-15-impregnated fiberglass mesh to fill some holes. I let it cure for several days and will be starting the next few coats, then roughing them up and priming the area.

Most of this will be covered by the rear apron and taillights anyway, but I still want it to be somewhat presentable. I did a ton of POR-15 application on the inside of the trunk, "battery" area (no battery there due to it being a convertible), and the corresponding area on the driver's side.

Thanks again Patrick! If you are ever at Summit and see Jeremy ask for a ride, that 325e hauls some serious ass!

It looks awesome! And your "collection" was also quite impressive.

More paint prep pictures. I finally bought a new dual action random orbital sander and am kicking myself for not doing this sooner. I have a few small spots to hit with filler and then need to do a final hand-sand with wet 320 or 400 but the bumpers and lower rear apron are done. I still have to finish the front valance and to check over the euro trim, is lip, and a few other small parts. I also need to remove the lock cylinders, door sills, and to mask off the large holes. Last major sanding project will be to strip the mirrors.

I have made arrangement to get a set of new HD rocker arms from Bimmerheads, and am either getting some new Schrick valve springs or new BMW dual valve springs- awaiting word form the guy with the Schrick springs. Once that is settled I will be getting the head rebuild with the 272 cam, HD rockers, and new springs. My powdercoated and laser etched valve cover was completed yesterday (pics coming).

                LeMans blue.

They really are in pretty good shape. I need to take them apart (unfortunately) to replace the tilt/fold cables. The covers could use a light cleaning but otherwise seem to be fine.

                        Update:

Schrick valve springs (yes, I have all 12):

Prep for paint is in the final final steps! I broke out the bondo after limiting myself to filler primer and sanding up to this point. The car was supposed to go to the shop today but logistics (my job) got in the way, as I chose to be there for my daughter's first day of school over taking the car to the shop this morning.

I also found a few more small areas that I'd like to address before I drop it off, but if I don't get to them I will survive.

                        Late valance installed:

                        Overall:

Prepared parts (Euro trim and "is" front lip not shown):

                        Last minute change...

I had some of my RallyX guys come up do repair their e28 (which had been at my house since they broke a spring perch a month ago and had the car towed here since AAA would only tow it 100 miles). One of the guys has a topasblau e46 and I started looking over the color and decided that I really like it. I checked it out from a lot of angles and in different light conditions and after comparing pictures, I think that with the minimal metallic content, I actually like it better than my earlier choice of LeMans Blue.

It is moving. I need to get it to paint so that I can determine what exterior parts I need and which I can get rid of...
