I wasn't sure what this thing looked like underneath the grit either! I finally had time today to hit the interior hard for the first time. Toothbrushed and sonaxed everything in sight. Turned out pretty good, but I still need to remove/condition the seats and shampoo the carpets. That's a project for another day.

I'm really toying with the idea of a turbo, someone help my sanity. It's just not worth trying to make big power on an NA M20, and the hassle of an S54 doesn't seem to be worth it either.

Until I hit the lottery I think my dreams of twin scroll and an EFR are out of the question, but I think on an M20 an HTA3076 (59lb/min, 54.8mm inducer) would be quite nice in open scroll variant with a .82 housing. I only need 300-350whp, as I don't wish to compromise the stock bottom end/drivetrain.

              Fuel is simple

              Megasquirt PnP (whodwho)
              Siemens 60lb inj
              Walbro 255

Clutch will have to be a solid disc since I don't care about because racecar anymore so: Spec Stage 2+ (400wtq rating)

The only problem: Someone needs to make me a manifold, because I can't afford a $1600 manifold. And if I can't find a reasonably priced manifold solution, I'm buying this and burning everything but the IC pipes, manifold, and downpipe. I think with use of a Tial 38mm gate and Tial BOV, FMIC with Garrett core, and a real turbo, the kit wouldn't actually be that terrible, minus the fact that it's open scroll.

It seems a decent number of people run that manifold with pretty good (relatively speaking) results.

That manifold may fit the ix.

This one, and the cxracing knockoffs of it don't clear the iX engine mount arm :

I'm thinking of running the same kinugawa turbo that Kamotors ran on his M20: http://shopping.kinugawaturbo.com/ki...2-1-1-3-1.aspx

                      Good to know!

I've since spoken with my buddy who used to work at Fabspeed and we're building a log style manifold for it in December. I have to order all the sch10 here shortly.

And man...... I hate those Kinugawa turbos. They were/are a joke amongst the Evo community, I don't see why Bimmer guys should settle for any less. I would run a simple ole garrett 50 trim over that any day ($750 brand new) if you want a responsive setup. You can get TS Borg Warner stuff for almost the same price, and that will blow it out of the water.

You should run a manifold with the down pipe flanges lower in the bay then go for straight pipes and silencer/resonator into muffler or just get a cheap small cat to stick in the middle. I feel like that would alleviate a lot of issues plus who doesn't love the deafening drone of straight pipes

Hmm, are you talking headers? I'm talking a turbo manifold, which will be sch10 log style, to a 3" downpipe/mid section, into my fagnaflow catback.

I'm talking basically about not running a catalytic converter in the mid section
