Are you going to go with an adjustable cam gear and/or different cam shaft?
Also forgive me if this is already listed but are you going down the megasquirt road with ignition
I think I'm going to leave the split duration cam in there. This isn't a max effort build by any means, and I feel that although a regrind may leave some lift/duration on the table over a "billet" cam, I'm not terribly worried about it. Also, in regards to the cam gear, I'm using an OEM HG and the head isn't cut enough for me to need to degree it out, so an adjustable cam gear (my opinion) is pretty useless for an average build like mine unless I'm A) changing the overall height of the head/block or B) spending a day on the dyno adjusting my cam timing.
And yep, I'm going to do the whodwho setup when I get around to making this all happen. I think I can get away with just fresh rotor/coil/plugs/wires at 300whp, but I guess I'll find out. I don't really feel like doing wasted spark.

I have been doing research on ix 24v swaps thanks to your thread and Jakes S54ix build(I don't want to go turbo and I am not a big fan of the M20) and now I think I am going to have to go this direction(S50). It is going to have to wait a summer or two but it is going to happen. Maybe sooner. Apparently Moonlight has or use to have a 24v swap kit for the ix.How to remove, install or convert to pop out windows

No beef, just not a fan of timing belts and their scheduled rotation. Plus my M20's gas mileage is as good as an S50 but has less power. Rather than rebuild the ix M20 engine I have on the stand, I will do the S50 swap and sell both the ix engines. At least that is the plan. How to remove, install or convert to pop out windows

Yeah, I know what ya mean, but a swap just didn't sit right with me. I have a tendency to sell cars when I get sick of them (and get sick of them fast), so knowing this, I'm 100% sure that I'd finish an S54 swap and sell it.
Turbos are easy. Easy to plan for and put together. I can get everything I need over a long period of time and put it on over the weekend. A motor swap is a long ordeal to get everything ironed out, and that's the main reason why I stayed away.
So, my final thought was that at the end of the day I'd have the same amount of power and functionality as an S54 without the swap hassle.

This project will probably sit for a long while, but when I get around to completing it I think it'll prove worthwhile.

This leaves me with a rebuilt, cam'd, tuned S50 that I won't get half of what I have into it if I sell it alone. I don't want to sell the car but I know I would get more if the swap is in and running. So I contemplated what to do. Sell my car with the swap and find another one? No, too much money in the car to let it go. Get another car, swap in the S50 and sell it? That is what I was leaning towards.
During this time I am trying to figure out what kind of build I am going to do to the M20 ix. I have been reading about ix builds and seeing what most everyone else is doing. That is when I see bits of info about ix 24v swap. I figured it was possible but would be expensive considering the 10 degree rotation with the ix g260. After some recent research there doesn't seem to be much more than a standard 24v swap and if there is a kit that takes care of the last bit, I should be able to pull this off in a weekend or two by taking everything out of the rwd E30 for the swap.
Obviously it won't be easy per say but I don't see it as difficult as it use to be.How to remove, install or convert to pop out windows

I liked it at first but I started wanting more power because it is my fun/summer/nice day/weekend car. So I contemplated going forced induction and was not happy with the prices I was coming up with plus losing my A/C. After more contemplation I decided I am going to go for a bigger swap.

I'm excited for some of the existing 24v iX guys to finish up!
