325IX restore and build continued(turbo, e34ix diff, DCT)
So I have to ask...why did you go through all of the hassle of adding a DCT to keep the M20?
Not knocking it. just seems weird.
Pretty much just the way it worked out honestly. When I started out I spend a good bit and built the motor to handle some decent power but then realized I needed a better stronger diff so I spend hours and hours building that oil pan for an m20, and then last minute I decided to go dct for icing on the cake. If I were to start again no way I'd go with the m20. I mean there good motors but bang for your buck theres so many better choices. So I'm gonna smash a lot of fuel and boost down its throat see what happens haha.

Awesome progress! I agree on bang for your buck. M20 has almost limitless potential, with one being almost 1000hp I saw the other day, but an N52 would be a wonderful option. You def have the fab skills.
Shout out to a fellow IBEW member. Local 24 here (Baltimore) really considering doing a turbo AWD build myself, thats how i stumbled on this thread! Off the turbo subject but can you post or pm and specs on the wheels you are running on the car.

Nice to see another member on here! The awd cars are a absolute blast when there boosted, theres just so much traction. Those wheels were just some knock off esm wheels, 16x8 et 35 I believe but thanks a buddy hooking me up with a nice set 17" Enkeis but I don't have any full pictures of them on with the car down on the ground yet.

I'm looking at an GS6-53BZ for my swap, but may have to bolt it up to an automatic iX T-case
This is how I did mine, I'd imagine you could do something similar also.
I mocked it up on a piece of sheet metal first then once I had everything perfect i had it water jetted out.
Then I clocked the transfercase into place afterwards because my oil pan but you could do it all in CAD

Thanks! Interesting. I assume you're still using the dowels to locate the T-case... are there any location features on the transmission?
There was (is?) a guy in England trying to build an S62 AWD E30 M3. He had a similar arrangement on the back of a Getrag 265.
BMW used the GS6-53BZ in AWD cars, so it already has a good rear housing for use with a T-case. The more I think about it and the more I see how strong the E30 T-case is, the more OK I am with just using it. I'll probably have to cut up an ATC-700 input shaft and weld it to a 4HP22 AWD output shaft to get the two to play nice together.
ETA: oh yeah, and you're also tilting the trans to the M20 angle.
