Go MS. After soldering up a board and connecting a motor to it, it's totally worth it. Once you learn it it's easy peasy.

      Troo troo.

That just blows the "budget" way up now.

I'd like to get it at least running on OE so I have a baseline to go from too.

....and because I'd love love love to have it going before January for snow romping ridiculousness.

Is that how much ms is? I remember it being more like $300 for the board from DIY auto tune.

Well, I guess then you need the harness and the O2 sensor.

MS3 is between $500-650, depending on how far you go. A friend has an MS1 setup for an M30 turbo I can get for cheap.....then I guess I can upgrade it to MS2?

I'm such a newb on MS, lol.

I think I did a ms 1 v3 so that I had the socket for the daughter card. I guess you're trying to run a v12 so you would need MS3... Since I think the first two won't let you run that many cylinders. I was hooking up a mk2 golf.... so a much different animal.

Hmm....If I understand correctly, MS2 will work for the v12. Stock the m70 batch fires 3 injector at a time. I'd have to leave the distributors though, unless I make up some kind of dual 6cyl EDIS system....which it seems people have been doing to run Jag V12s for years....

MS3x, run wasted spark with 2 V6 GM DIS units, or EDIS if you want (assuming it is pretty much the same thing, but ford)

Should be pretty easy to wire it up too.

For $660 I may just pop for the assembled MS3X. I'm impatient and want to have this thing breaking axles by Spring. I'll just forgo trips to the PnS.

Meanwhile, I've checked, and the Rover frame rails are 24.75" apart. M70 is 25" wide, from the outside of the AC compressor to outside of the alternator.

The AC compressor is at the same level as the crank pulley. Alt is maybe 1.5" higher.

Crank pulley will end up dead even in between the frame rails.

So, some moving of components may have to occur. This thing will have AC (and it's kinda needed as the WP is driven with the AC compressor belt).

We're planning on building a cradle for the M70 so we can run it (them) outside the car. Got a lead on a bell housing...and I think the M60B30 flex plate will work with either an M30 torque converter or the Rover one. V8 FW/flex plate is the same OD as the v12. The v12 BH is 1.25" deeper than the M20/M5X one on the Rover now. The trans input shaft is v12 specific.

Going to have a slump in updates....we've acquired a few e34s for parting.

For that matter, you could use the external 7x crank sensor from WOT-Tech and run two GM ECM's with GM DIS's... Those can be real-time tuned with a Moates Ostrich and TunerPro RT. With its power curve, the V12 is probably pretty similar in VE to a GM Gen III pushrod 60 degree V6.
