Hell no. The M10 is a durable, light, reliable engine, and as we've seen it can make good power on stock internals when turbocharged. The head flow is worse than an M42, but it's lighter and less troublesome. It's probably the most reliable and long lasting BMW engine, and it's under-appreciated compared to its successor, the M42, which is average at best in all ways.

This is off topic and nitpicking, but the M10's successor was the M40 engine ;)Hell no. Pulled this out today, don't think I did it right, but it came out with not much force. I used a punch and gently punched it out the other side. Pulled everything off that goes with the rockers arm and have them all set up as they came off. Removed the cam plate holder thing and still can't move the cam over at all. My problem is now, I can't get the other rod out by doing the same thing. It won't budge at all. This is why I'm thinking i did it wrong because if it worked on one side, it should work on the other. Anybody recommend how to remove the rest of this? Obviously don't have any specific tools for this type of job

Got the cam out, really wasn't to difficult it's just a pain in the ass to get the rockers off and out of the way. Still can't get the other side out, tried just about everything

Rebuilt with some mild port work, lapped the valves, new stem seals, rocker shaft hardware, rocker locks to get rid of the springs, hd valve springs and chromoly retainers.Comment

I love M10 builds! I actually have some high compression pistons along with a MLS headgasket for a build that will never happen. I will give you a great deal on them. Im in SoCal, so no shipping to deal with.
I was told if its hard to get out the shaft is probably bent, or worse the head might be warped.Simon

Yes I'm starting to love these builds too!! I'm actually pretty interested if you want to shoot me an email with some info!! Bradsindoni96@gmail.com and great ... The head is probably fucked, I mean I did get it free and yesterday I did notice a crack towards the top where I can't the shaft out and I believe the crack is from it being stuck trying to force it out... Thank you for the help!!I love M10 builds! I actually have some high compression pistons along with a MLS headgasket for a build that will never happen. I will give you a great deal on them.
