    Made some incremental progress over the last few nights. I sold the startecs and the 370mm Mtech 1 :( but they both went to good homes. I now have the "standard" Mtech 1 wheel and stock taillights installed.

    I went about priming the surfaces with black primer and got the side skirts on. Unfortunately it looks like the shop cracked one of the corners of the skirts when they were attempting to install them :( but I will try a plastic weld repair.

    There is a ton of finish bodywork to do, mainly on the rear bumper and the seams, but I'm just thrilled that it's all one color!

    Finally got sideskirts on!

    With the right instafilters applied, it almost looks finished :p

    My God.....

    I'm absolutely astounded at the level of patience and attention to detail you (and others who've taken on similar tasks) have when doing these projects.

    Sorry if I missed it, but what are the plans for paint?

    Yessir. Now I was finally able to remove that stupid 1" coil spring spacer in the rear. PSA: Those things are ridiculous, never use them. The car handled terribly and they tore themselves to bits in only a few miles. It will take a little while to settle, and of course it will be lower with the top & interior back in.

    It will be well worth it when it's all said and done. Rare parts are Rare, but not impossible to find again. I look forward to seeing her back on the road, and completed! I may have beat you to the Picnic the other year, but you beat me by doing it right, and doing justice in replicating these Rare birds.

    Very cool it's coming home. Sorry about the cost, I understand how expensive these things are.

    Well, she's coming home today. Mixed feelings for sure. I am of course excited to be finally done with this phase of the project and get onto the finish work and paint... but the work completed has come out to double my original budget for the bodywork. I'm not upset with the fabrication team at all, mind you: they did the work as I asked them to, did not cut corners, and it cost what it cost.

    Unfortunately as you've all probably seen, I'm getting rid of most of my rare E30 parts (and anything else that isn't bolted down) to make up for it. I'm really bummed that the 370mm Mtech 1 wheel, startecs, BBS, etc won't be making it onto the car.

    What will come will be an exercise in restoration: building this car as it rolled off the factory floor (or as close as possible). And I intend on enjoying every moment of it.

    =======================

    I'll most certainly post photos as I take delivery today and the next part of the process!
