Cost will be monumental with an S14 of that build spec. The MOTEC and c/r gearbox alone that are necessary to extract the performance from that sort of engine will be an arm and a leg (10k+)

I wish I had that sort of funding : )

rofl it's true, would probably cost 1/2 the price, have more power w/o doing any engine work and won't be THAT front heavy with aluminum block.

I do agree, the s14 is not a cheap motor to build. That is something i have known since the start of this build. But i want to keep it DTM original. I know guy that are spending upwards of 40k on a MS replica s14 motor, pankle ti rods DTM blocks and cranks. All brand new from the dealer. IM not going to be one of them. I do not want to spend over 10k on the s14. Yes i know it would be anywear near the power of an ls1. But theres just something about the noise an s14 with a carbon airbox that does it for me. the only other motors i would swap in is m3 v8 or an s62.

Meh, id take a 2.5 S14 over most of the s/m 5X swaps... if cost was not an object.

                    Wrong.

That is a shitty MAXX piggy-back computer.
It won't do what you need it to with the build you're claiming. But hey, just like you half-assed the rollbar bending, and the bar isn't even close to being tight to the chassis, half ass the engine management and let me know when you're ready to sell the blown engine.

I know that the maxx piggyback isnt the best way to go. But its highly developed and i can get alot of techinical support for it, which is why i went with it. This is my first built motor, i am doing and i wanted an engine managment that i would have alot of support for. I know of quite a few Maxx systems that are used on several MS built motor. Once the car is running i will change the management system, but im looking to get the car running sooner rather then latter and this was they simplest ECU system.

As for the cage. I know its not perfict, but thats the way it is and im working with it.

Care to take more pot shots at this build guys??

Whats yer beef with the bending? Why does it have to be tight to the sheet metal again??

And what have you all built??? Lemme see some pics please.

                          -sits back and waits-
I like to build things with metal n stuff

S14 guru, John uses MAXX with his build that is easily putting out 320+hp and he knows waaaaaaaay more than you or your dad ever will. As long as you have the correct MS chip for proper timing and spark with respect to the hardware youre running, MAXX is nothing more than fuel control.

If youre going to be an ass at least know what youre talking about.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

A JD2 bender is like $500... there is no reason to run alloy steel over with a freaking truck to bend it.

Closer to the chassis is farther from the driver.

The flip side: Why would you want an ill-fitting roll cage?
