I'm not sure whether it is done or not yet. Even if it is, theres no way to get it back home anyway. My dads truck is getting fixed. So, I just spent some money instead. I just ordered an 80 sq ft. roll of Damplifier, and one sheet of MotorMat Pro. The damplifier obviously will go over the ZeroRust that I painted onto the floor, and the MotorMat (9sq') will get put on the inside of my fiberglass hood after its painted to reflect engine heat away. Well as of yesterday when my dad drove by the shop on the way home, Joe hadn't put the main hoop or anything in yet, but did have a scribble of what dimensions he's going to use for the hoop - to figure the angles from and bend up the steel. Apparently it was a pretty big project to clear enough room in the shop for him to bend the 12' long pipes. He builds dirt modifieds and is in a temporary shop right now that's pretty small, so that's pretty easy to believe.

He threatened though again that it might be done by the weekend, and I think my dad is going by again today to see if there's anything worth taking a picture of, and maybe nudge Joe in the right direction, to get moving. My dad's known him a long time so he might yank his chain a little. hah

I did get something unrelated and unworthy of a picture (yet) in though, one of two boxes from Second Skin Audio...some how box 2 of 2 showed up a day early, since it got out of Sacramento this morning and 1 of 2 did not. Both were supposed to be shipped tomorrow anyway, so that's fine. I got my 9 sq' of hood insulation.

            PICS PICS PICS!!!

Dad didnt go by the shop, Joe had apparently said yesterday he was going to email us pictures, and here they are...I can count 4 (edit-5)bars total that have yet to be welded in...

I can't quite tell in the picture that shows the headliner bar that I left in it whether the bar was built a little high (whatever, headliner can stretch over) or if its flattened out (seems that way) and the bar built to its height, so the headliner might end up just touching or barely crowning over the top tube.

We'll see how the seats fit, I was hoping the bar would be built just aft of the B pillar, but its right behind it. Probably won't be a problem though anyway. The only thing that might be close is the door bar that'll be going in at an angle - hopefully under where the trailing edge of the door arm rests are, but over the lower seat bolsters over their whole length of adjustment on the slider. We'll see.. I'd rather have to notch the arm rest than not be able to move the seat where I want it. But again, we'll see how that works out. He's got the dimensions of where the trailing edge of the arm rest point is, and one of the seats I'll be using in the shop too, so hopefully it'll be taken into account.

Bar is done, and i have pics of it but there's a chance there may be a minor change/addition done to it so I'm going to leave out the pics till its resolved. Probably will go to check it out in person on Sunday.

You're giving me inspiration to start working on my driveway queen. My question for me is; turbo M10 or NA M20? I've already done an assload of work reforming an auto to 5-speed swap. So, leaning toward keeping the M10.

Keep the M10, the weight balance is superior.

Turbo M10 will easily reach 250hp wih gobs of torque. Ask Pat Allen...
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Do whatever you want, the weight difference will not be THAT much off with some well thought out weight-replacement or removal if using the larger engine. A turbo m10 can be a beast though.

I'd rather not get into the weight weenie discussion, especially because I'm using the heavier of the two, so I'll just leave it there.

Went to go check it out today actually to be sure I'd want to go through the trouble of getting the trailer up there tomorrow to bring it home.

Everything fits well, I have plenty of room from the inside of the forward down/door tubes to my side bolster on my seats, and with the headrest about an inch forward of the diagonal down tube in the main hoop, it feels like a good driving position.

                        looking good!!!

when you try to put your headliner in, make sure you take your hand and run it across the top of your main hoop. Feel for weld splatter.

if you do have weld spaltter on there, it will scratch the shit out of your headliner, ask me how i know!!!!

Thanks! Good advice, but I'll probably know about any spatter well before the headliner goes in. How DO you know anyway? :)

I'm going up to bring it home today, mask a lot of stuff off, and paint the tubing. I'm going to scuff it all up some, so I'll do my best to feel for and get rid of anything that might cause a problem installing anything down the road. I hadn't specifically thought of that though!

It'll be a while before the interior is put together completely anyway, just bits and pieces here and there for now. Bodywork is the biggest hurdle left to go on the actual shell itself, then paint and assembly. Might take a while to actually do all the bodywork I want to do, but other sub projects are going to continue on at a good pace. I'm currently working on stripping, painting, and assembling my front and rear sub frame + suspension assemblies.

Sure. I'll have plenty more pictures to post tonight. Just checking up on the thread for now :) Got the car back, and went and raided the paint section at OSH. Primer and gloss black for the bar, black plasti-dip for my trim, and some cheap undercoating spray to cover up the aluminum parcel shelf and corner panels. I'll then pop rivet them back on, but as it is right now there's the chance of galvanic corrosion between the steel and aluminum. I'd rather that not happen...
