I have to say, that I (as well as many other OK residents) were SHOCKED by this verdict.

Whether it was overkill or not, the motherfucker walked into a business to rob it armed with a weapon. OKC does tend to be a bit more liberal than Tulsa, but still, shocked.

OKC must not be experiencing the crime increase that Tulsa is. Tuesday we had a guy lose his shit and go on shooting spree at 21st and Yale, killed an exchange student who he tried to car jack. At least the cops killed the fuck so we don't have to spend $60k a year housing him.

Then Thursday, a guy walked into his ex-girlfriend's salon, made everyone leave, shot her then killed himself. The only good thing is she survived and it looks like she will recover with no long term damage (other than psychological).

It's nearly driven my wife and I away, but we really want to see this area and these people prosper.

It's too bad, back in the day, Tulsa was considered the most beautiful city in the country. No shit.

And now we are being overrun with crime-ridden minorities. It's a shame, it's driving away the young talented people who could help turn the area around.

I actually hate sentiments such as these. Especially when they come across as such. Are you and your wife really enriching the area with your benevolent presence? Stupid Minorities should know they sit in the back of the bus!

I realize in actuality it's probably just the wording but I hope you get the general gist of where I'm coming from. It is a damn shame to watch areas slowly go under. The biggest tell? When all the "good" people up and leave. You want to help an area or a people? Be the damn Change.

Exactly. To shoot when someone is approaching you/your family/your property, you get away with 'self defense' if they're leaving or otherwise incapacitated then its out of anger, the danger is leaving or can't hurt you anymore.

Young people, who own a house, jobs that pay well above the national average who give generously to charity and spend as much money as possible with local businesses. That's not meant to be arrogant, it's the truth. And like I said, it nearly drove us away, but we decided to stay and be part of the solution.

As for the others, as I've said before, I'll take anyone to the three distinct poor areas of Tulsa and let you check for yourself.
