Speaking of my last post in this thread, I now own an R1100S. Turns out the full turbo kit is just under $8k!

          Do want.

          here's the bike:

I might have posted in another thread but this popped up on page 1 so figured Id share. Its my first real street bike after riding dirt bikes as a kid. Its been distracting me from the E30 but its been fun. The girlfriend has a Honda 110 and sometimes we roll together making the most hilarious biker gang in Atlanta, although I do much prefer getting out of the city on my own to open her up.

The bottom half is CF, which is why it looks textured. In this pic the front fender is plastic but the CF one arrived this week.

I had been working on a project locally (that I just decided to take a position at) and someone there is a fair-weather rider on an 848. It looks sexy. He even has the alarm on it, which is prompted me to shop the factory MV alarm ($400, not as bad as to be expected for a $20k+ bike). If I was to get a second true sportbike (right now looking at a Brutale or a Streetfighter as something more suited to cruising in traffic) it would probably be the 848 since I cant get a Paul Smart replica.

NJMP? Nice. We head there a few times a year with Tony's Track Days.

                        That's a pretty MV!

Took one of those for a spin at NJMP Thunderbolt last summer. Riding at anything less than 8/10ths it was herky, jerky & twitchy... but the harder I pushed it the more it liked it! Beautiful bike, gobs of power but I dunno if I'd want one as a street bike.

Love my Tuono more :) Should have it back on the road today. I'll snap a couple pix.

MVs are easily top 2 sexiest bikes currently being produced.

Right now I'm trying to decide between picking up an 848 with a bunch of goodies (termis, race ecu, pazzo levers, cnc adjustable rearsets, etc..) for $7500, or waiting to pick up a 1098 like I've wanted for the past 5 years...

For what I'm looking to do (street riding with weekend track days), I almost think the 848 is the better choice, but the 1098's power is so tempting. Odds are it would be years before I could ever actually properly get the power out of either bike on a track, but the 1098 just sounds better in my head :/

The 848 would win for looks IMHO. If I wasnt on an MV I would probably be on it. 116hp is still plenty for the street and probably safer for a novice anyway. The current liter bikes from MV are pushing 201hp and that just seems insane.

Right now the biggest gripe with the MV is its weight. Its ~20lbs more than the Ducati in stock form. Its surprisingly nimble for it but it could use a diet. Im working on it with this one. Ive managed to shave about 10lbs off of the chassis and my big hit would be lighter wheels. Dropping 7lbs of unsprung weight in a single step. :puppy:

As for it being a handful at walking pace I haven't noticed it. At first I was on some tires that needed to be changed out but since putting the 2CTs (lol you can see those pics were taken the first day back from the tire fitter) on it the bike behaves a lot differently. It plays along nicely with my limited mass and doesn't seem to dance more than one would expect on irregular surfaces.

                              Are you talking rwhp?

The new 848 is 140hp at the crank.

Even my 04 R6 did 108 rwhp, that was more than enough.

Yeah and yeah. Once you get above 100hp on a street bike its fast enough to get you in and out of trouble.

I test drove the the new BMW and it was impressive wide open but I didnt feel like I was lacking in my older, less powerful MV.
