im tired of this bill. the endless debate of the "moral obligation" to provide health care to all and how its none of the government's business to legislate morality. i already lose 35% of my paycheck to a social security system that won't be there when i retire, medicare/cade for uninsured sick, and welfare for the lazy. now it looks like i have to work harder to support the guy that asks me for money every day to get a 40 instead of getting a job. it sucks to grow up and be able to watch as the world disintegrates around me.

Two points... it's not the Government's job to make any citizen help those less fortunate. Specially through taxation. And again, this doesn't help anyone less fortunate or in the same unfortunate position everyone seems to find themselves in this current economy.

Secondly, yes, Christian's have a tendancy to be leading in the Volunteering poles, donations to charitable foundations and the like. Ironic really that most Democrats parade around preaching that everyone should give to those less fortunate but give less than those on the Conservative side by and large.

Charles Krauthammer said recently, “decline is a choice.” The Democrats are offering it to the American people, and a certain proportion of them seem minded to accept. Enough to make decline inevitable? To return to the young schoolboy on his uncle’s shoulders watching the Queen-Empress’s jubilee, in the words of Arnold Toynbee: “Civilizations die from suicide, not from murder.”

              Read this:http://article.nationalreview.com/42...rty/mark-steyn

It uses big words, so take your time. But the concepts in here are exactly what we are talking about. Really read it and engage your brain. Try to understand.

My idea of helping my fellow citizen is:
              1) Don't hinder him
              2) Keep my own house clean

If that fails, and a person needs a helping hand, then give it. That is what community is for (note: community is not the same as government). But don't demean him by forcing him to subsist on charity. No real man should have to suffer such indignity.

Canada, GB, France, Germany, etc, ALL owe their freedom and their stability to us. Period. And that's not just because of WW1 and WW2. That's because we have remained strong through economic power based on free will and an attitude of fairness and responsibility. It's not always been pretty, and we haven't always made the right choices, and we have caused problems, but overall, we have made the world what it is today. It is because of our past economic freedom that the rest of the world is free to slough around in socialistic morass. You take the US out of the equation, that socialistic utopia that you seem to think is so great would simply collapse under its own weight. Game over.

I think Canada owes their freedom and stability to Great Britain. If we had outright won the War of 1812 they would be part of the USA.

Won't it help the people who are uninsured and using the ER as a form of healthcare?

Yeah, but we put up with you anyways ;)

Hallen is right unless of course you zero'd in on that one part of his statement and didn't read anything else. That says more about you though than anyone else.

And because you're a Commie, I understand that you don't think the Country that saves your ass deserves or has a right to say anything about what goes on in said country. We're not perfect, but until recently, we did a fair share better than most of the World. Including Canada...

                        ...except in Hockey.

And before you bring up any wars, as I heard someone say on here before, our military hasn't been able to fight a real war because of the Democrats in this country for the past 2-5 engagements.

Somalia is really starting to sound pretty good...

They have no real government in place right now, it is more or less run by pirates. I am just thinking about taking in a few guys, heavily armed, and taking out some pirates. Then just taking the place over.

I am a nice person at heart so I would setup some sort of production facility there and hire the locals and sell my goods around the world. I would first need to invent something that most people would want, and sell it for a low price. With the money generated I would provide good housing and medial support for my workers and their families.

It really would be a win-win-win situation, we would get rid of the pirates and secure the shipping lanes around that area, I wouldn't have to pay anything in taxes because they don't have a government worth mentioning, and I am employing people and giving them medial care and a roof over their head. I would provide better than just that, but hopefully you get the idea.

As an added income we could host pirate hunts, just like big game hunts, but with a few more liability wavers... I could imagine there are more than a few people who would actually come do it to.

I know, kinda messed up really. But if you think about it at the same time, not to bad an idea. Anyone want to join me? Could be fun.
