I honestly don't see why anyone would be opposed to this, you are getting an entire new section to neatly organize all of your debates, but instead are insisting that it stay in off topic for I have no idea why. You then have to sift through numerous threads to find the one you want to debate in. It's not like the political subforum would be restricted or locked. I understand the whole don't click if you don't want to read thing but is having your own section for the topics you love so much a racist hate crime? Enlighten me on the drawbacks of a political subforum.

There's no reason for it beyond pandering to people that frankly, have no logical reason for it. Does this seem a little too principled? Maybe.

If the mods want to put in a Political sub-forum, I really don't mind. But not for the reasons proposed.

Look at the last section at the bottom. The "Useless" section includes "Politics and controversy" as well as "Personal attacks" subforums. 100% freedom of expression is preserved. Just don't piss of everyone who couldn't care less about Obama or Bush. Or at least do it in between similarly opiniated peoples...

I see no reason why there shouldn't be one, it can't hurt to give them their own playground to beat the same topics to death over and over. Bimmerfest has it's own political section, and its really nice not having to deal with the same 4 people starting the same stupid threads up every day, using the same stupid arguments, and bitching about the other stupid arguments. I haven't been here long enough to notice this problem, but I'm pretty sure it's found on just about any online forum that has an "off topic" section..

And before you say, "I like to hear what my fellow e30 enthusiasts have to say!", shut the fuck up. I've read those threads. It's the farthest thing from a 2 way conservation as possible. Its not like you guys have much interest in actually having adult conversations about this stuff. Its usually just a "fuck Obama" gangbang. Don't blame others for a lack of imagination. We have bike threads, Droid threads, Ipod threads, camera threads, titty threads, (I don't see anyone crowing for a porn subforum) etc, etc. Just because it doesn't occur to YOU doesn't make it a rule. As a matter of fact, a quick glance at today's Page 1 of the OFF TOPIC forum reveals none of the types of threads you're all in a tizzy about.

Question is simple. Do you want a political subforum? I kinda get extremely tired by a few posters continuously starting political threads, hammering the same rotten nail, just for the sake of confrontation. Let them play in their own corner of the yard.

Translation:

"I don't like seeing posts criticizing Obama, so their posts should be banned from OT"

Of course, ML didn't mind when GWB was the subject of criticism in OT nor did he call for a separate forum as far as I can tell.

I've seen this happen on numerous car forums and other forums over the years, and 90% of the time, it's the lefties that want political talk moved to a separate forum when a liberal is the main subject of criticism.

No one is forcing you or anyone else to click/read/reply/participate in the political threads.
