Vote - Political subforum

Political subforum won't solve any problem, it will just be where all the problems are crammed into one nice neat section. It's not like it would be taking anyone's post rights away but there are enough of them around to justify a new section to organize them. Imagine if there was no M20 subforum, general technical would be so over full and broad. I see no reason to oppose a section for politics, love them or not, because there are no drawbacks.

The part that really annoys me about this is the people that are the main contributers to the political threads don't post in other parts of the forum. What was the point of signing up to an e30 forum if you only come here to bitch about what the latest idiot is doing. Not only is it a dumb thing to be arguing about in the first place, but there is absolutely no reason to be arguing about it here.

I vote that members that have over 75% of their posts in some sort of political thread be banned. They obviously aren't here for the knowledge this forum was created for, so why keep them around?

A political subforum would only encourage these people.

Some of us get just as tired of endless repeated questions about 20 year old cars as others get about endless repeated non-car questions. That's why there are multiple forums for different topics.

How about you just don't look at the Off-Topic Lounge, man. Trying to police others personal views because of YOUR personal view is fucking ignorant. "Well, I don't agree with all your views and since my view is upos to all yours, you should all listen to my view and quiet down about your views."

but we have a nudes section in Off-Topic. Why nudes instead of Politics or Religious debates. Why "Drunk and Stupid" instead? These are honest questions I'm curious to hear points on.

We don't have a nudes section, we have one thread. ONE drunk and stupid thread. when you click on that thread, you know the content inside. If you don't like seeing photos of naked women you don't know, don't click the nudes thread. The reason (i'm guessing) we don't have a "politics thread" is because there are so many topics people think are worth covering, so new threads are made for each one.

The idea behind the new sub-forum would be to let those with strong political leanings or a propensity to argue go into the Politics section and do whatever they want and say whatever they want without impacting the r3v off-topic experience for other members.

maybe you should listen to other people's views instead of just telling them to not look at off-topic. plenty of good discussions happen in OT about lots of things, whether it be a new cell phone, video game, or way to cook something.

personally, it is disheartening to see how much hate is inherent in the comments people make in the political threads as well as the political thread titles. i think it is fine if people have discussions about political topics, but when these slanderous arguments are covering half of the off-topic page, it really sucks. not just because i have to sift through the thread titles to see if there's something else, but also because people are being such assholes to people they would otherwise be nice to in person.

Easy solution, don't click them. This is what Off-Topic is for. I think the thread titles are pretty telling for most Political Threads if not all. If YOU decide to click, read all the "hate" and then feel "bad", that's no one's fault but your own.

The point of the nudes or anything else wasn't criticism, I could care less. Why? Because I don't frequent them. It doesn't bother me nor do I feel I should make a Poll about having their own section, etc etc... Get it yet?

Tired of the "New Posts" link showing you a bunch of posts in forums you're not interested in seeing? Or maybe you stopped using "New Posts" because it always brought up too many posts?

Well, I have a solution for you!

Each forum has a forum number. To see which forum number is which, go to: http://r3vlimited.com/board/index.php and look at the link for the forums and you'll see each forum ends with a number. For instance, General Discussion ends with ?f=98 so the forum number is 98.

For each forum you want to exclude from the "New Posts", note down the forum number that you want to EXCLUDE.

Now, create a new bookmark in your browser that follows the following syntax:

After the exclude= you want to put each forum number that you want to exclude, separated by commas.

Example 1:
If you want "New Posts" to view everything but Off Topic, bookmark the following:

Example 2:
If you want "New Posts" to view everything except PRO3 Racing and Photoshop & Media , your bookmark would be:

Now, simply use the bookmark you created, and you'll be able to view new posts at any time with only the forums that interest you, and none of the extra noise!
