If he did something that endangered us then yes, cleats would be used.

still a sketch argument. be the better person and realize that a lot of motorists will feel this way.

if some cock sucker on a bike were to cleat, hit my car with a air pump, throw a water bottle at it or in any way damage my PERSONAL PROPERTY (ie my car) because he felt he was wronged by me and felt so self rightous that he needed to do something, i would:
pick up the cell and call the police, follow the said rider/s until the police caught up with us, if neccessary detain him until the police arived (gray area there), press charges, aquire $.

when it comes down to it, you have damage to your car caused by the rider, they have................
by escalating to causing damage, they are in the wrong.

i have to laugh at all the tough guy talk here, 85% of you would shit your pants if you did that to a car and the driver pulled over and confronted you ( that is providing that you even had the balls to do that to a car). internet talk is on thing, real life is completely different.

my phone needs flash to play the video :(

you have to use your head when you are riding. i was hit 4 times on my bike riding WITH traffic. i finally wised up and started riding on the sidewalk against traffic so i could se it comming!

a car can hit you, fuck you up or kill you then just drive off.
forcing the point my give you a self rightious high, like voting for oboma did. in the end you just end up hurting. yourself.

Build bike lanes, fine, no problem with them. I get pissed when I'm cruising down a busy road and have a fucking bicycle weave across 3 lanes of traffic like he's playing a game of frogger so he can get into the left turn lane. Making damn sure he screams at every car he cuts off because "they're a bunch of lazy assholes".

It's all good and fine to say that we need to share the road, but you're talking about a multi thousand pound steel cage moving at two or three times your speed and the majority of the time drivers cant see you riding half way into a lane just after of the car/truck/semi in front of them.

I ride a sportbike, I know damn well what its like to have people basically imagine you dont exist, or instantly class you as a tool and try to fuck with you. I wouldn't dream of putting myself on a public road on 2 wheels that couldn't even get close to keeping up or getting the fuck out of the way. If I rode a bicycle, I'd break the law and ride on the sidewalk where there were no bike lanes. Sometimes your life aint worth the few bucks it might cost you in tickets

FYI.. its not legal to ride many of those things on the interstate in many states.
So motorcycles should either be outlawed or be forced to have seatbelts and airbags?

              Your logic is foolish.

                    lol

The only thing I dont like about bicyclists is when they ride at late times. I hate when other drivers pass them going up a hill when Im heading in their direction. People get wayy overzealous about their fancy restraint systems and airbags.

I bet they took up half the road (not single file) and I wonder what he shouted back at the driver. Either way they both sound at fault.

I ride my bike pretty much everyday. Spandex, helmet, cleats on the road bike, and no brakes commuting on the track bike. There is no right or wrong answer in this situation adn I've come across just about every scenerio mentioned in this thread...

                            Here is what I do:
If I feel like Im being targeted on the street for just being on the street on a reasonably commutable road downtown where I live, I give a verbal warning to the driver. If he/she does not comply, we come to a stop and i ask them to get out of their vehicle so we can talk it out. Usually by this point, they say fuck it and just move on, because Im blood raging mad if its escalated to this. Problem averted.

NOW, if I have a bike lane, and my life is still in danger, you're losing a side view mirror courtesy of my ulock or fist. Same result, every time. No questions asked. If you have a problem with my solution, get out of your car and lets sort it out.

Its really pretty simple. I only ride on roads I know are somewhat safe. And I dont ride like an asshole. It doesnt matter if you're being reasonable and lawful on your bike or not, drivers will still be angry. I mean, im a driver too. I know what it feels like. But the problem is, those angry motorists are not cyclists. Or their kids arent cyclists. They just dont understand. But they sure do understand when the kid on a brakeless track bike with tattoos and a heavy piece of steel in their hands is waving it at them ready to kill them. THEY ACTUALLY START CARING THEN.

Be nice to me, and I will be nice to you. Like Blunt said, respect. If there were bike lanes on every fucking road in every city int he USA, this issue would still exist. Promise. A lot of motorists just simply dont care/dont pay attention/arent worried about anyone but themselves and where they are going at the time. Fact.

OH, and if you dont ride a bike, then you should have no right to speak on behalf of a cyclist. Period. You can say you'd do this or that, but until your life is in danger on a regular basis merely because you ride from point A to B, then you simply wont understand.

Are some of you really this stupid that you think that all cyclists don't own cars? As a matter of fact most of us own multiple cars and bicycles all of which we pay registration and tax on. Most of us are well educated and have college degrees and are in the upper income ranges of society. If your dumb ass is working while we're riding(usually weekends) you probably have your name on your shirt and aren't contributing a whole lot to the tax pool of your state or the federal government anyway. Get a clue, in the future there will only be more bicycles on the road not less.

At 50 years old I put an average of 4500 miles a year on my bicycle. What about you? what are you doing to help our environment and to stay healthy so I don't have to pay for your medicare when you have heart disease and have to walk around with an oxygen tank when you are my age?

                                p.s.
Just a guess but I am willing to wager one of bicycles is worth more than your car.
