I just picked up a Land Rover two days ago and I knew Slammin would be pretty happy for me. I took it out last night and it didn't even break down. I was very surprised.
That is one awesome thing on those trucks. Also so much space. Rear diff lock too.
What trim level did you get? Leather in the Limited is nice. Even has driver's lumbar support.
I got a Limited. '97 with 182k, 4x4 with locking rear diff. $4,400. Quite a deal for this part of the states. Obviously it's rust free since Idaho. It needs a lift and some tires now. I'm pretty jazzed.
We did a PPI for a customer on one from Pittsburgh. The cross brace for the trans/TCase was held on by a shoestring of rust. It was bad bad bad frame rust. Guy had it shipped back to Pittsburgh to the dealer he bought it from. Came in a week later with a very nice one from around here.
I think my steering box took a shit on me. Steering wheel was already off center from replacing the drag link, now it is even more off center and I have a bunch of on-center play. And a bit of a leak coming out of the steering box. I read about adjusting the play, is this something I should try or do you guys think I need to look for a new box?
In case you can't see...there is a large puddle of coolant exiting my vehicle....source is the radiator....1 yr old....but something got between it and the fan and left a bunch of divots and a large hole. Fan is in tact. Heard whatever it was bouncing around in there, then the smell of coolant, then the UG temp started to rise. Fuk fuk fuk fuk fuk.
Drove the thing just fine two trips before. Haven't had the hood open in a week at least. IDK what it was, or how it got there.....but fuk.
Oh man....got my radiator swapped. Didn't have to remove the front as they say you should.
Didn't even have to disconnect the oil and trans coolers to get the rad out. I later did so I could mount them proper to the front of the new rad.
....and the tool of the day....
I ended up loosing enough ATF from the cooler to make the trans not want to go into gear. SO I decided to change out the filter. This resulted in me getting a shower of Dexron III....and then the right trans cooler line blew off the cooler as I hadn't seated the fucking quick connect....hate those things.
Anywho....man, thing shifts way better now. I think it was low to begin with. Fluids wasn't dirty....still nice and red....but figured if I'd be refilling it, I'd service it.
Temps: It was idling around 187F....haven't run it on the highway to see if it'll break 200....hopefully not.
Gearing up for Rovers at Wintergreen....can't wait.
