You try Will Tillery (Rovah guy)?

The price of imported Defenders is too damn high!

But really, now that you can import all the 86-90 models they are flying in, and it seems everyone wants $25k for a clapped out v8 90, or 35k for the maaco respray with the shitty tdi engine, not the good one.

110s are worse. 50k for a paint peeling hunk that needs a new trans or whatever.

The prices make buying a 97 for 65k look like a better deal.

Hope they go down, I wont be buying a 90 for 25k that the importer paid 5k for.

Cheaper to go to the UK and just bring one over....know of a guy who did just that and got a TDi 110 for under $10k all said....not going to say how much under....but was under under.

Right? these importers are smoking crack, only found one 90 under 20k, and its a beat to shit 2.5nadiesel.

Edit: your right for sure, ebay has 100s of them going for about 2500-3500 pounds. add another 3k for shipping. bam 9k 110 TDI in decent condition.

Even less if you get out of ebay and have contacts on the island.

I have none though, but do hope to go there one day. It's incredibly easy to import a classic car...nice writeup on mye28 about the full experience, costs, etc.

The thing you have to realize is how cars age in the UK and how poorly LR prepared them for the climate. Finding a clean TDi d110 or d90 for 2500 GBP is like finding a minty fresh 1987 ford f-150 New York State on a small budget it just isn't happening. A lot of those trucks are going to need a frame, bulkhead, doors or all three to be sound after 25 yrs in the UK climate.

I'm certainly not suggesting you get a fair deal buying from an importer because prices are high for trucks that are questionable at best. Buying a used truck blind in the UK is just going to be a gamble unless you make a holiday of it and go shopping.

Anyone buy parts from Rover Land? I am having a pretty bad time with them, wondering if anyone else had the same experience

Bought a headlight to replace one that I smashed, had it sent next day air. The new headlight gets here completely cracked due to poor packaging. So I call them, they're reluctant to believe that glass is fragile apparently, and eventually say they will send me a replacement. This was last Friday. So I got an email that they created a label (ground, not overnight like paid for) on Friday, but still haven't shipped it as of this morning. I tried to call them but they either give me the runaround or just let it ring.

Well I take back most of what I said. I think FedEx just messed up the tracking number, I got back from lunch and my headlight was sitting on my table. Uncracked and even came with the adjusters.

Now if only I could figure out why my hood looks like it's popped when it's not...

The hood on my RRC also looks like it is popped at all times. I was cleaning out the engine bay and closed it on a vacuum attachment and had to just pull it out. Ever since then my hood hasn't closed as tight and looks like it is going to fly up while I'm driving. My old P38 had the same problem and all it needed was an adjustment so maybe my RRC and your Disco just need the same thing.

Body structure should be the same - assuming the latch too…?
